  1. Sounds like you had fun over there. If you may disclose your name...
  2. God knows I wouldn't doubt the achievements of anyone on this board , but do you have links to your articles? It'd be interesting to open a new side of Greg .
  3. I don't have this one, so don't know if Lee is on all the tracks[doubt it]. Was this a Liberty date originally? I think the original LP cover is quite different.
  4. Ok, why not. This is Countess Maria Lopukhina.
  5. Nothing gets by you, does it?!
  6. Sorry, I couldn't make it. Got lost in the subway tunnels and when I came out the show was over.
  7. I can't believe you didn't get laid even with no lights on ANYWHERE ! For chrisakes, even missus and I did it, with candles and Black Market playing on my laptop. The battery lasted for about 35 minutes and then it too went dead.
  8. It's a $100 record, Lon.
  9. I got one, but it's missing the rear tray card. If anyone has one they'd scan for me, or send to me to be scanned... Thanks!
  10. I'll swing by.

    David Young

Young was one of Russell's students, if I remember correctly. He's also prominently featured on Russell's Stratusphunk and At The Five Spot. I don't know what had become of him; perhaps he went into the music education field.
  12. I don't think Dingo was as bad as Kenny G, but I think I understand your displeasure.
  13. How important are the bonus tracks compared to the "straight" Lp? Worth buying the cd?
  14. Also, the cd cover is a bit different from the original LP cover. Is there a photo of Mal Waldron without a cigarette? [was he a chain-smoker or it was an artistic "persona", you think?] A very substantial album. I'm happy for all that can hear it now.
  15. You know, I felt the same way! It's a very moving composition. Nefertiti has the mid-60s Blue Note feel, like Herbie's and Wayne's albums for instance, doesn't it? Like on the Sorcerer there's not a single Miles composition. Solos are generally understated and restrained. I love this record and you just gave me an excuse to play it again. And again...
  16. Grandassa is back!
  17. Are these covers for real? I've never seen 'em before.
  18. Yeah, me too. That's the first time I've heard this.
  19. He does well on Eric Dolphy's Berlin Concert.
  20. someone's selling a bunch of old promo phots of jazz guys[and gals]
  21. The Hottest Sax Symbol Around
  22. He was an artist that everyone loved. And a gentleman.
  23. She was the drummer on Billie Holiday's 1954 Koln live recording. That's the only time I remember seeing her name.
  24. Saw Craig Handy's band at the Jazz Gallery on Thu. night. Was ok. Nothing spectacular. Sound was horrible. Going to check out Sonny Rollins in the Park tout suite!
