  1. David, Chuck bought the art print of Horace and Monk, not the silver gelatin photo. https://www.mosaicrecordsimages.com/sales-specials/2pianosl-fine-art-print-sg2px-7kcmd-k9aec Good buys, those! I'm itching to get one or two more. I wonder if they come matted. The contact sheets look so tempting!
  2. Ha! I’m 387. Don’t forget that people are ordering more than one print.
  3. Some are still available, but I bet not for long. I bought a couple. They only have had one or two silver gelatin prints of each. For instance, I bought Ornette on violin, and Clifford Brown with Jimmy Heath, and they are now marked as SOLD OUT. I called Mosaic, and exchanged emails with M.C. The silver gelatin prints won't be available after these are gone. The ones they still have are 1994-1995 darkroom prints. The contact sheets are amazing, and are an intimate look into Wolff's process, but I didn't buy one. Maybe I should. $500 is steep, but they are unique. I doubt they'll be available again.
  4. I thought he lurked here, and posted once or twice...my mistake.
  5. I am not sure what to think about the change of hands for the Mosaic Images, but I have a bad feeling. Mr. Cuscuna, can you disclose the information about the new owner? Please tell us what will happen to this archive, if you are not contracted to stay silent. I'm going to purchase one or two of the silver gelatin prints [i.e. the real photographs], before the rocker switch drops tonight. Now I have to figure out which ones.
  6. This is a radio show, Schwing is a documentary film. I'll listen to this on my work commutes, though! Thanks!
  7. He also tore up the jacket of a Sinead O'Connor LP.
  8. This Friday's Lew Tabackin Trio at the Side Door, the show I was really looking forward to...rescheduled for who knows when.
  9. Ronnie Spector is dead, 78. Just a week shy of a year's anniversary of her ex-husband's death. Strange. https://nypost.com/2022/01/12/ronnie-spector-rock-icon-behind-be-my-baby-dead-at-78/
  10. You know the vinyl craze is ON when you see the Pope coming out of a record store hiding a Love Supreme original pressing that he just paid an ungodly sum for. https://www.americamagazine.org/faith/2022/01/12/pope-francis-record-store-242181?fbclid=IwAR1WPCx4QrClZSCqicN0U4SVTbLREvGfELm8i4qL-GEJMO3aYLdMt5GbBPs
  11. I'd like to watch the Schwing, but I can only find the Italian language dub. https://www.facebook.com/argonautadellamusica1/videos/872842699891741
  12. Found it in the "World Music' section. You never know what you'll see in the "World Music" stack, in any record store...unless you're in, say, Mogadishu. I wonder what they put in the World Music section there... Yeah, it was a very clean japanese King pressing. I had to have it. $4.
  13. He had a family?! He is thought of as a bachelor when he's remembered...
  14. That is indeed an excellent find!!! I had quiet fun in the local well-curated little record store, run by a couple of young guys with good taste. An hour's worth of kneeling and bending produced this little grouping.
  15. I can do the clean-up and transfer, if you still need it.
  16. I suggest you print the eBay page for the lot you won, and store with the record; also save the screenshot of it. It's iron-proof provenance. eBay doesn't keep these pages up for more than three months. They used to keep all their completed auction pages available for years, but stopped doing that about 5 years ago, which was a big disappointment for me.
  17. There are no more record shops in Vienna?
  18. It takes a strong man to go through what you have. And it takes an even stronger woman to be by your side. Hoping for a good recovery, and will come down to NYC to hear you play!
  19. Why didn't you ask him? Just played Side 1. Very high quality original Danish pressing. 1970s lightweight vinyl, without a single pop/crackle!
  20. Thanks for the link! While biographical material the author put together was very informative, I didn't really enjoy wading through the shovelfuls of adjectives that Grundy throws on an innocent reader when describing what music sounds like. Questions that still remain for me: Did Alan Shorter suffer from increasingly aggressive mental illness, or not? Where was he for the last fifteen years of his life as an artist? It doesn’t appear that he was performing at all, which brings the question whether his brother Wayne was supporting him financially, or he had a day job? What was his degree in from NYU, my alma mater?
  21. Madness. It's hard to believe someone is stupid enough and at the same time wealthy enough to pay 30x more than they would've otherwise, had it not been signed by Wayne. Who is still living, may he live as long as he wished!
  22. Wait, the White B went for $385?! DMM for almost $800?! Got it. Thanks! I wasn't reading attentively and missed the "late Lew Keck" part.
