  1. I can't think of a single profession that would justify paying that much for learning it. That being said, mine cost me $120k in student loans...and I graduated 20 years ago. Same program now is north of $300K....insane.
  2. Are you watching the El Clasico? It's a damn bloodbath. I did buy the book, thanks for the recommendation. It's on my nightstand.
  3. Have a healthy one!
  4. Have a good one!
  5. That was before my time, had to look it up. So he would've had to revive his role for THE Cosby show in order to wax eloquent with the good doctor. I feel bad for your wife. That outburst was totally unprovoked.
  6. Mickey Bass ANOTHER WAY OUT Carter Jefferson + some excellent playing by Steve Nelson.
  7. It would've been wicked to watch him say to Dr.Huxtable “What the fuck you smiling at... I’ll come down there kick your ass. Wipe the smile off you face.”
  8. My issue with streaming services like Pandora etc is the sound quality, more so than the selection. They compress the sound so much that for me personally it would make it useless as a preferred way of enjoying music. For background it's very convenient..and it's free. And I don't mind Snoop pushing some hair-restoration dreck every 20 minutes. Don't meet me there...beat me there.
  9. WTF?..was he serious?
  10. What's the other third? Cassette tapes?
  11. What does that even mean? It's not like he was touring constantly. Reminds me of when a politician suddenly decides to 'retire', he/she will invariably say they want to spend more time with their family. Lo and behold , it turns out they have more than one. 😀
  12. At times I wonder what these people do for decades after 'retiring' from the music biz. I'm assuming he made a few bucks/quid, enough to live off the royalties of his only hit song. What about the other British new wave one-hit wonders from the 1980s...love their songs, not keen on seeing what they look like, but still, curious what the heck they do with their free time, of which they have oodles. How does one even retire from the showbiz...it seems like so much fun.
  13. I've read people talk about synergy so convincingly that I began to think it was something that could be substantiated and measured, and not purely subjective. Thanks. Enjoy your set-up!
  14. Possibly because many [most?] cats just quote, with little or nothing worthwhile to add of their own? If we're talking bop of contemporary vintage.
  15. Can you explain what you mean by synergy?
  16. How do you increase the gain? Does your source have a volume control?
  17. I just ordered mine. Looking forward to hear it. If the sound is close to the RCA cd reissue, we are in for an auditory orgasm.
  18. How do you connect your amp to these and the sub?
  19. What do you use for x-over? They come with it?
  20. There's a jazz connection also. He worked on Anja Garbarek's record. She's a daughter of you know who. Since the first time I heard it, I've always enjoyed heir biggest [only?] hit, It's My Life. Just read the lyrics for the first time. Imho, it's bunch of gibberish. But I won't stop liking the song. It's My Life Talk Talk Funny how I find myself in love with you If I could buy my reasoning I'd pay to lose One half won't do I've asked myself How much do you commit yourself? It's my life Don't you forget It's my life It never ends Funny how I blind myself I never knew if I was sometimes played upon Afraid to lose, I'd tell myself what good you do Convince myself It's my life Don't you forget It's my life It never ends I've asked myself How much do you commit yourself? It's my life Don't you forget Caught in the crowd It never ends
  21. I've had four integrated tube amplifiers, one stereo and two monoblock 300B-based flea-powered amplifiers, two tube-based preamplifiers, and am not seeing myself ever going back to tubes. Enjoy your set-up though. To each his own. Which OB speakers do you have?
  22. The Collector is a tune from the Adam's Apple session, no?
  23. Short answer: YES.
  24. I played my old Connoisseur ETCETERA cd yesterday, and I must say that it sounds tinny, there's so little bass. There are no mastering credits, but I'm almost sure it's got McMaster all over it. I love that my preamp has an equalizer. A little tweaking, and now I've got a listenable disk. I've forgotten how strong of a session it was. Those 1964-1965 Shorter albums are friggin awesome.
