  1. When I see a bizarre and/or stupid crime-related headline in the news, I automatically assume it happened in Florida, unless I read otherwise.
  2. I'm sure he wouldn't be upset at Teramisu. His former band-mates in the Asian Jazz All-Stars Power Quartet have a tuine called Teramisu, dedicated to him. But if anyone feels 'triggered', I do apologize. https://www.allaboutjazz.com/on-the-road-with-the-asian-jazz-all-stars-power-quartet-jeremy-monteiro-by-ian-patterson.php?page=1 That was a pun on "lost his shit". Lost his bushito....get it? Again, if anyone feels particularly 'triggered', I do apologize. So...how about this: at the concert Terumasa had a sudden flashback of his little brother Motohiko pounding on the drum set non-stop, and, in a state of great distress, converted that memory into the altercation with the kid drummer. Any Freudian analysts here, who can put it into proper terms?
  3. Teramisu had lost his bushito that night. http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/samurai-delicatessen/n8627?snl=1
  4. Video of the beat-down starts at 1:30. He did smack the kid. WTF, Hino...
  5. Thanks. I'll keep my eye open for this one.
  6. Never heard of this musician, or the album. What does the cover look like?
  7. Evidently your diet is to blame. More saturated fat and sugar will help bring your figure back.
  8. Willie Bobo - BOBO MOTION Heh.
  9. Cool. Just reserved the BR of The Magnificent Seven at the town library. Set a quota of one western a week for myself for the next couple of months, should be enough to cover all the best ones..
  10. I am ashamed to say I haven't seen it. But I did see the Seven Samurai. Forgot to add one of my favorites - The Outlaw Josey Wales

Incidentally, just picked up an original Stereo pressing of the Man Bites Harmonica, havn't played it yet. His The Whistler and His Guitar is cute, in a muzak sense. Both of the Brasil Project cds are enjoyable. Of course, seeing him live at the Iridium ca.1999 was phenomenally-interesting. Also, when I was in Nice about 22 years ago, I caught a tv documentary on him, in Flemish[?]. Couldn't understand a word. It was about a 2 hour affair. I wonder if it's been subtitled, as it looked like serious career retrospective. I must admit that listening to an album's-worth of harmonica drives me nuts.
  12. Willie Bobo - BOBO MOTION, original 1967 mono. I'm sure stereo sounds more interesting, but this is what I got. A nice, funky album, displaying technical mastery of those on it. The band personnel is not listed, I hear someone similar to Plas Johnson there. It's a top of the line, swinging band. All the tunes were arranged by Bert Keyes and Sonny Hill, names that are not immediately recalled by my unencumbered memory. Also dig the cover.
  13. Yep, enjoy!
  14. Yep, I got it as a present from a dear buddy of mine. While no t a great fan of compilations, this is an awesome slice of the CTI oeuvre, I enjoy it a lot. Whoever compiled it, did a superb job.
  15. Your valuable support will not go unnoticed, comrade Uli. No pasaran!
  16. I've never seen this record before. With a cover like this, I'd remember if I had.
  17. I watched THE SEARCHERS. One thing for sure, a movie like this wouldn't have been made today...not PC is an understatement. Cinematography was beautiful, the Monument Valley setting was magnificent. The plot was good, some innuendos here and there, no major holes in the editing, script was good, I felt the empathy towards the protagonists. The historical setting of the settlers vs. the tribes is nothing new, and the gory violence on all sides was depicted honestly. One thing that constantly made me chuckle is that Wayne's character and his nephew were fighting the Comanches with just the Colt revolvers, while the Comanches had Winchesters. Other than that, a great film, thanks for recommending it. The Blue Ray transfer is excellent!
  18. Comrade Reynolds, the Winter Jazzfest patrons, performers and board of directors jointly condemn your doubts in the Resistance! You have until the night of January 9th, 2018 to publicly repent to the Winter Jazzfest Politburo.
  19. Robin Kenyatta - GIRL FROM MARTINIQUE US ECM pressing from 1973, promo. A very strong record, very confident playing by Kenyatta and the band. Is it on cd?
  20. Looks like the estate only gave them the permission to use Monk for name of their beer and his likeness on the bottle label, but the company is now milking Thelonious for other stuff, like apparel and chochkes. Naturally, the estate wants their piece of the action.
  21. This will narrow it down for you. http://hothousejazz.com/calender.php Don't waste your time on the National jazz museum in Harlem, if you were thinking of going. There isn't much there.
  22. While editing my stuff for sale, I can't remove spaces between the lines of text. How is that done? Thanks!
  23. I could never live in Florida year round. Too hot, and way too humid for me. Good luck to you!
  24. Respect!
