  1. It's not Hank's only recording on organ. He played organ on one track of Kenny Burrell's LP "Freedom" - Blue NoteGXF3059 - the session of 27 March 1963. I've got the feeling I have something else of him on organ, but for the life of me I can't think what it is. MG
  2. Ray Bryant - Groove house - Sue MG
  3. Richard Briers Angela Thorne The Phantom Raspberry Blower of old London town
  4. Yes - Joe was great. I haven't got any of the Pablos, though I've always meant to get the ones with Wild Bill Moore, Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson and Pee Wee Crayton. I have a nice Proper box of his early material, up to "Shake rattle & roll", which I enjoy very much. Highly recommended - to myself, because I've never replaced the copy I had in the sixties - "The boss of the blues" on Atlantic. MG
  5. Hope you had a good time. Breath bated in readiness MG
  6. A bit o' blues Charles Brown - Great R&B oldies vol 2 - Blues Spectrum (Bulldog UK) (with Johnny Otis & co) Eddie Kirkland - The way it was - TruSound (Red Lightnin' UK) (with the King Curtis band) MG
  7. Willis Jackson - Mellow blues - Trip (Upfront) MG
  8. I didn't think of that one, but ... MG
  9. Yes, some folks might consider that a problem. I should think so! An empty house; computer left on - might be burned down when you return. Or, if burgled, the contents of your bank account might be missing. MG
  10. I used to visit Soul Jazz Records shop in Soho almost every trip to London. A good place to spend more money than I had. They have some interessting things. MG
  11. Wouldn't you have to leave your computer on when you go away? MG
  12. Oh, I remember that sleeve! That was when Rodney was trying to be a proper jazz musician MG
  13. Don Patterson - Why not - Muse MG
  14. This morning, breakfast and after with the Curtis Amy select. MG
  15. George Freeman - Man & woman - Groove Merchant MG
  16. As it's his birthday today, I'm listening with great pleasure to the Blue Mitchell box. Now on disc 3. MG
  17. Actually, if COncord did buy Blue Note, wouldn't that give them a half share in Mosaic? I should think that's a specific Blue Note asset not a general EMI asset. So MC could start to mine the Prestige catalogue for unreleased gems - like a Freddie McCoy set MG
  18. But Concord would never reissue anything that hasn't already been out at least eight times. MG
  19. Don't forget Blue Mitchell, 13 March 1930, Miami Time to dig out a certain Mosaic set. MG
  20. Was it a better session for being had at that price? At the time I'd never seen any copy of this - on LP or CD so even though it was one of those garbage Applause reissues it was a no-brainer (not to mention getting change out of a Loonie ). Since then I've picked up a near-mint mono vinyl original so it gathers dust ! Maybe I should do an Applause Label freak show display? I like this session by the way, although it regularly gets panned. I had the Applause version, too I'm not one of those who pans it, either. Think I'll listen later; it's been a while. MG
