  1. pisces: iirc it's a sequence of quartets with only one tenor playing on each track and it is mostly ballads (and on the 4 Lockjaw quartets Horace Parlan plays celeste) so it is a little odd concept, but some of the tracks are really nice (the title track with Griffin for instance) Yes, I agree. I like it. MG
  2. Just spent a few days concentrating on tidying up my hard drive - got rid of 4GB of junk! And while I was concentrating, two LPs turned up from Bert's E-bay shop (no images on the web and I can't be asked to scan them in) Houston Person - Stolen sweets - Muse (glad to get this because my previous copy is unplayable) Jimmy McGriff - The groover - JAM (never had this one before - some records just pass you by) MG
  3. Jack Lemmon Tony Curtis Marilyn Monroe
  4. I think that's correct. I never needed to log in before. Now I have to sometimes (and sometimes not - dunno why that is) but never realise it until I want to post something, unless I'm looking at the sexiest album sleeves thread If this is happening to everyone, then I guess that might account for it. MG The only time that I've had to re-log in is when the board went down[because I never log out]. Btw, if you leave this site without logging out, do others see you as an active/present member at the bottom of the Forum Home page? [inquiring minds need to know.] I never log out either; but every so often, it makes me log in. Pain in the bumhole. MG
  5. A cup of mushroom soup and a cheese sandwich! MG
  6. What was released was evidently the alt take. MG

  8. My daughter's sent hsband and kids away today, so she can do nothing but read it! MG
  9. I've now written this Summer off. Me too. I knew April & May were too good - and we had builders in the garden practically the whole time, because the rear wall, which props up the neighbour's house, started leaning over. MG
  10. Theresa Brewer Bobby Vinton Sacha Distel
  11. What is this unreleased "Acid Green" session he and others refer to? It's one he did before "Shades of Green". There's a previous thread on this which I think gives details. But it comes out funny - perhaps my browser. http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...w=&st=& MG Oh sorry Mg it's quite a later session than I realised. But it is strange for Herbie Nichols to be in there on Double Bass. Wonder what the context for that was and how it might have influenced the ensemble. ie is it slightly unique compared to he other sesions from this time. Well, Herbie Lewis was a very funky bass player, as you can hear on his recordings with Les McCann. But frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't turn out to be Jimmy Lewis on bass. MG
  12. It's having to get up in the middle of the night all the time. MG
  13. Yea i agree ....but this is a post about showing a little respect for your neighbors , we were up at 8 this morning and never really sleep in. All i'm saying is can we have a little quiet on a Sunday morning , sit around read the paper , listen to some music wthout the constant concerto of buzzing lawn mowers ? i Oh, I see. Well, if you have neighbours, you have to put up with them and they have to put up with you. If you can talk to them in a civilised way, that may help. But it may not. Our neighbours on one side have a dog - used to bark all day long when they were out. I didn't mind - I had the hifi on loud. But the neighbours behind us hated the noise. Wife behind us (nice lady) tried to talk to wife with barking dog (RAF), which led to war; police, local council environment office. Dog quiet now; grown up a bit, I suspect. MG (PS RAF=rough as fuck)

  15. Interesting article. Thanks Guy. This is very hard stuff. Mali is interesting, but I wonder what the long term ecological effects might be. If the Niger can be turned into another Nile, fine. But if it could be, it could have been a thousand years ago. MG

  17. Why? Getting up early is great because you're human a lot earlier than you otherwise would be. When I was at work, I used to think that was more important on weekends - after all, the other days, you're only going to work. MG
  18. Why not ask the local battered women's shelter if they know of any need for furniture? That's what we did when we replaced our suite after we moved. MG
  19. Sonny Stitt Roost sessions discs 7, 8 & 9 this morning. MG
  20. Bad flooding in Central England today. The forecast for the rest of July and August is brill. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/skynews/20070722/...ou-45dbed5.html Oh. MG
