  1. Started rewatching this
  2. Jason Isaacs, the lead in Awake, has done a lot of UK tv work. One from the BBC that I recommend as well worth your time is Case Histories. Seems it has been shown in America on PBS. Here's a link My link
  3. Glad Al Smith has been mentioned, Hear My Blues on Prestige is really good. I've got and enjoy all those Howard McGhee on Bethlehem, Life Is Just A Bowl of Cherries is the least played. A couple of excellent Bethlehem Japanese TOCJ cds that are almost never mentioned are - Frank Minion - In The Soft Land Of Make Believe - look at the band line up ! and Bobby Scott - The Compositions Of Bobby Scott John Murtaugh Sax (Tenor) Frank Rosolino Trombone Bobby Scott Piano, Conductor, Composer Max Bennett Bass Al Epstein Sax (Baritone) Marty Flax Sax (Baritone) Milt Hinton Bass Osie Johnson Drums Eddie Bert Trombone Conte Candoli Trumpet Jimmy Giuffre Sax (Baritone) Bill Holman Sax (Tenor) Charlie Mariano Sax (Alto) Stan Levey Drums Hal McKusick Sax (Alto) Whitey Mitchell Bass
  4. I suspect the final episode was cobbled together when the writers were told the show would not have a 2nd season. Maybe the end was his mind creating a new third reality where the wife lives and the kid lives dreams were reconciled into a livable unity. Then again I'm probably totally wrong. Who knows but I agree that it was best to finish it with one season, the combating alternate realities might have become very silly and tiresome if it had been dragged out and padded. Anyhow I enjoyed it.
  5. Retired. Just do a few hours to help with the bills. You work 1637 hours less than the annual average for Japan. This is 1622 hours less than the OECD average
  6. Started rewatching Homeland tv copies. Now on episode six.
  7. Seems that most peeves are about American vs British pronunciation. A few that come to mind as annoying are- Aye-rack for Iraq aluminum for aluminium lab-rat-ry for laboratory. My all time favourite mispronunciation is Joe Pesci in My Cousin Vinnie with his classic courtroom utterance of 'Yoots' for youths If I may stray from the topic, the American usage of bring vs take is illogical and puzzling. Let's not mention 'bathroom' either. 'He went to the bathroom on the lawn' cracks me up.
  8. House finale. Over lunch we talked about possible endings. All were wrong. I wonder if they've left the door open for a Chase spin off ala Morse and Lewis. Mad Men Hare Krishna, what next ? The Killing The original storyline now long abandoned it's come into it's own and has gone far beyond being just an English language version of the original.
  9. Started rewatching 'Rubicon'. I thought this was brilliant and really don't mind the fact that it was axed after one season. Short but sweet is sometimes a good thing.
  10. Yeah, me too. Sad news, her music always reminds me of my early years in Tokyo and fills me with nostalgia.

    RIP Duck Dunn

A sad loss, the Booker T. & The MG's rhythm section was badass before the word was invented. The Guardian says -- My link
  12. Straightforward free download and installation. Click here --My link
  13. It's available on Netflix in America. Click here - My link My copies were from the internet.
  14. Started rewatching 'Terriers'. A great show that was axed by the corporate know it alls.
  15. The final nuclear reactor here has been closed down. Despite the doom mongers and lack of world news coverage it certainly feels like a major triumph for long dormant people power.
  16. We had our last cat for 22 years but she wasn't adverse to 'correcting' me if I made an unwelcome intrusion into her space. I have scars on my lip and hand to prove it. Still love cats though
  17. Finished All Hell Let Loose, which was excellent, and have started this.
  18. How much does this add to the currently running four part tv series ?
  19. Coming up, the season finale of The Good Wife, the best and most consistently well written show on tv in the absence of Breaking Bad. Anyone else watching Scandal? I like it more with each episode, the latest takes it into dark waters indeed. I'll bet it's canceled soon, most of the most interesting shows have been.
  20. The first really warm day this year, 28 , blue skies, no wind.
  21. That's good. Have given up the ghost on the increasingly preposterous and annoying Touch. Killing off Danny Glover was the final straw.
  22. Finished off the series. No spoilers but I grew to really like the odd Saga character. She shows some true grit and tenacity as the story develops.
  23. Jeez, why would anyone want to 'perform' in a gym. Narcissism run amok.
