  1. Lost episode 8 Anyone else think this is rubbish ? Seems to be wandering all over the place with no focus or cohesive narrative. I think they are setting us up for a 'just kidding' ending. Thank goodness for Damages !
  2. What an illiterate moron, mind numbingly primitive and infantile.
  3. Not obscure but neither is The Caddy. Remember seeing this with ' mimam'ndad '.
  4. BBC The RKO Story : Tales From Hollywood, all six parts. The Orson Welles episode was really interesting with lots of facts and anecdotes about the production of Kane and Ambersons that I was unaware of. The interviews with people who were actually involved were fascinating.

  6. BBC Storyville- How Vietnam Was Lost Robert Kenner, USA, 2005 Really excellent. The Homepage blurb sums it up better than I could-- In one weekend in 1967, two occurrences at opposite ends of the world began the process whereby Americans convinced themselves that the Vietnam War was not worth fighting. One of these was the ambush of an American battalion by the Vietcong, resulting in 61 casualties. The other was at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where state police ejected students who were campaigning against the presence presence on campus of recruiting agents for napalm manufacturers Dow Chemical. This brilliant film works so well because its focus is so narrow. We see survivors of the ambushed battalion and we see the women who lost their husbands and who still recall, so many years later, their grief. We are also able to understand how, throughout universities in America, students became, (in the word of the time), 'radicalised' through their opposition to the war. It's interesting, of course, to compare those events with the American scene now: with the war in Iraq, opposition has likely been milder because the American army no longer relies on the draft.
  7. This is the only way to stop the cat licking. Drops and the like won't stop an itchy and determined moggy ! Then you need steroids to reduce the inflammation and itching giving the fur a chance to regrow. Without this you're just toying with the problem. Beware of bandages. Our cat was bandaged by the vet and put in a cage, she ended up chewing through and swallowing part of the bandage, causing an intestinal blockage which nearly killed her. Beware of quack vets ! Get this now --
  8. Change vets immediately, you need to stop the cat licking and scratching the bald spot. You need a Dutch collar and steroids. That should cure the problem in a couple of weeks. I'm talking from my own experience , our cat suffered the same thing until we dumped the incompetent vet and found one who knew what he was doing.
  9. It's hard to imagine someone bearing such shattering misery. I've long been a reader of his reviews and wish him all the best.

  12. Old Franklin, can I get a trade in for one with Muddy or Sugar? My missus is Hips Davis, kinda like that one.
  13. Indeed,I thought last weeks episode into Kate's past was only mildly interesting. They are also piling on more and more layers of mumbo jumbo. I wonder if they really know what they are doing, I had doubts after last weeks show.
