  1. Japan have thumped Denmark to qualify and the mood here is euphoric disbelief.
  2. Many happy returns.
  3. Dan I've sent you a private message.
  4. Bit behind the times....... Star Trek Voyager Season 2
  5. England vs Japan : End of the 1st half.OMG England are crap, they are actually being outplayed by Japan. I can hardly believe it.
  6. One incident I'll never forget. Several people were standing on the stairway at the back of a double decker bus, waiting to get off at the next stop. I think the drunk said ' Let me off!' before he vomited all over the guy two steps lower on the stairs. A serious punch up followed.
  7. Glad you thought so Shawn. I'll reserve my comments lest you think I'm a hard hearted cynic.
  8. 24 Hardcore baby, a great, thrilling end that did not disappoint.
  9. Check out his ' My Voyage To ItalY, which is just as good. I'm looking forward to his long awaited take on British cinema as well as the George Harrison tribute, 'Living In The Material World'.
  10. Episode 11 of The Wire Season 4.
  11. Rod, what camera are you using there? he's great! I'm in the midst of trying to buy a new camera for my wife and like the HD features on some of the newer near DSLR point and shoot models. Price and being too old to figure out a big SLRs the main reason I'm not going there. kinuta, which model might this be? happy? thanks! Nikon Coolpix S640. Yes, I'm quite satisfied and the price was very reasonable at about $120. My link
  12. Testing the new Nikon. The river behind Toho film studios. Kurosawa shot some scenes here. Seven Samurai mural outside Toho studio
  13. Chocolate Pork Chop Man - Pete ' Guitar' Lewis
  14. Sad to hear that the venerable Swing Journal is calling it a day. http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nn20100519b2.html
  15. Shows how much I know, I wasn't aware it was based on a novel. Who's the author ? BTW is the big foot avatar biting the dust when you know what finishes ?
  16. The last two episodes of Flash Forward. The show has a lot of faults, being interesting is not one of them, but at least they are keeping the plot thread reasonably grounded with rational explanations for the phenomenon, the collider experiment angle adds a needed layer of credibility to tie together the disparate plot lines. At least that's how it strikes me.
  17. Indeed, it was like some rejected Gene Roddenberry yarn from Star Trek first season. I think the writers have dug themselves in over their heads with just too many twists, unexplained and aborted threads and generally trying to be too obscure for their own good. The task is too much for them. The bench mark for a seminal series finale is still Six Feet Under and there's no way they'll match that.
  18. I was underwhelmed. What should have been a chance to clear up a lot of puzzling points turned into nothing very much.
  19. I've just got a new pc and new e mail address so thankfully I'm rid of Facebook. The idea seemed interesting at first but when a couple of my students wanted to be my ' friends' and had access to information about me I started looking for a way to extricate myself from the thing. Mission accomplished.
  20. 24. The final season is now 21 hours down and things are getting very heavy indeed. I thought this show would go out with a fizzle but I was wrong. Anyone else watching?
  21. That's awful news, I had no idea. I've been away from the board changing to a new pc.
  22. I admire your sustained enthusiasm. For me the show really jumped off the rails when they failed to offer any explanation to the nuclear explosion, just left it hanging, as if to say we are a law unto ourselves and do not have to follow any kind of rational narrative progression, we'll just add some time jumps , smoke and mirrors. I'll bet it ends in a ''twas all a dream' type cop out.
