Yes thats an excellent record. And your TP remark is definitely true. But it's not TP so certain people will never listen to it.... in fact they rather listen to a very average Blue Note record than to any great jazz record that is not on Blue Note. Or in a any of the other audiophile series. Their loss...

I could only confirm Niko. Same here. Lot of my students and collegues are sick too. We've had worse here at home. 2022 was the year we got stomach flu (is that what you call vomit bug?) three times which is medically seen almost impossible. First time it was me, my eldest and my youngest. My wife was safe. Second time it was my wife and my eldest and the third time it was me, my wife and my youngest.... plus my parents in law! They all started with one of the kids. Nice present from day care....

All ordered at the same time with this but thanks 🙏 one is still on its way and the other arrived yesterday. Oh yeah it’s great! Love the little solo saxophone piece as well. I am unable to pick a true favorite out of this Harper period but if I’d really had to it probably be Knowledge of Self. Since 2014 we’ve got our own vinyl dealer here in the town of Heemskerk (pop. 40.000). Always happy to support him I decided to bring him a stack of cds to sell ( some Foo Fighters, RHCP, Deftones, Neil Young and more). I still listen to those guys but Spotify is enough for me with the music that I listen to sporadically. He was happy with them. Then I started digging trough the 3 jazz crates he has. Mostly there’s nothing in it which isn’t very strange for such a small shop. Then I started digging trough the crates and stumbled on this 1975 Italian pressing. As I wanted to pay he told me to leave that and gave it for free. Extremely happy with it. He warned me about Italian pressing's from the 1970’s: they were like Italian cars from the same era. Lovely to look at but crappy quality but it sounds fine. So does my Italian Prestige Pressing of Gary Bartz recording I’ve Known Rivers

I became aware of this Hubbard record trough this forum so thanks guys. Big Hubbard, Henderson and Hutch fan but never noticed it for the almost 20 years I am listening to jazz now. But better late than never. Damn I wish I was there.

Yes it’s a lovely ride. That deep voice and the funny things he’s sayin: makes you want to be right there in that club. I must say I don’t skip those tracks with Deasy either. Except for Benny Hen which is just silly.

still have mixed feelings about it this record. It contains some of my favorite Cannonball (the title track is amazing). The very average and cliche guitarist Mike Deasy spoils some of the tracks with his boring rock n roll playing. If he was not there that night this would have been one of Cannonballs best live dates. I still love it for all the tracks without Deasy. Cannonball surely had some soul!

such a great 3LP compilation from MCA Japan. Great discographical information. For 10 euros truly a steal. And it might be just my imagination or what I want to hear: but the sound quality is the best I’ve heard up till now with these Columbia/Decca records. Better than my They don’t sound like they were recorded in the 40’s.
