  1. thnx for sharing your impressions Thanks for the heads up on the "Workout". It's not easy to keep up with the bonus track issues. Yes, thanks. The RVG of Workout contained only one alternate of Three Coins, the Turrentine none, I believe.
  2. If Mr. Van Gelder hadn't done the original recordings, most of the "remaster/reissue gurus" wouldn't have much to remaster and their disciples wouldn't have much to listen to, given that both seem to be addicted to Blue Note recordings. A shame the topic of digital reissues had to immediately be reanimated, but if Mr. Van Gelder hadn't bungled and butchered so many of these CD reissues his reputation would not be tarnished in the eyes of a younger generation. It would simply be based on the amazing recordings, vinyl era, and the gushing mythologising of glossy coffee table books and greying music critics. ------ Happy birthday, Rudy Van Gelder!

  5. Sonny Rollins - Now's The Time (Blu-spec2) Thanks Santa!
  6. Probably many more Germans owned such books than actually read them, like Mein Kampf? The first edition with a black peel off moustache on the cover?
  7. Not all albums can be winners. And some jazz connoisseurs wouldn't know a great record if it hit them in the face.
  8. Final price reduction and free shipping still stands.
  9. Perhaps the best way to decide would be to download Willisau and Santa Cruz through bittorrent first? I did so.
  10. The sun rises above a graveyard in Normanton, West Yorkshire on the UK's warmest recorded Halloween
  11. A cure for cancer.
  12. 18°C and sunny this afternoon. Autumn is taking a few days off.
  13. I bought both my copies on the second hand market after the album had become rare and gained its (just) reputation, so I have to find a way to share the financial pain fairly between myself and the next owner of the copy here on sale. I won't be making a profit. I can offer free worldwide shipping if at PayPal you choose the option 'send money to friend or family' instead of 'pay for goods or services,' or you pay by bank transfer when you live in the Netherlands. I will ship your order in one of those secure CD Japan boxes that fit through a letter box.
  14. What I said previously basically stands, I ordered two of these Impulse Master Sessions digipaks earlier this year and they were old stock. I just noticed one disc that does have a CD-R warning on amazon.de. Alice Coltrane's A Monastic Trio which is listed with a January 2013 release date (unlike the Pharoah Sanders disc).
  15. Anthony Braxton "Live In Willisau" and "Live in Santa Cruz" for a Flamin' Groovies bootleg I once bought drunk on ebay. When I sobered up I had no idea why I did that. Does this offer still stand? It's probably gone up to three hardboiled eggs by now......... You mean Allen values the egg over the chicken?

  17. The link Lon provided is simply the EU pressing of the disc Guy said is OOP in the US. None of these EU pressings are CD-rs. There's simply some old stock left.
  18. I have two copies of only 2000 ever produced and one is up for sale. €49 €40 Anthony Braxton - Quartet (Santa Cruz) 1993 (hat ART CD 2-6190), double CD released 1997. There is a vertical fold in the back artwork along the yellow strip. A previous owner had the artwork stored outside of the jewel case. Booklet in excellent condition. The 2 CDs have some dirt, fingerprints and thin hairline markings on them visible under lamplight. Both discs play perfectly. The discs were in this condition when I bought them from the previous owner, and I am not someone who cleans discs as long as they play fine. Discs not in original jewel case, replacement jewel case not graded. ------ Free worldwide shipping*. I will ship your order in one of those secure CD Japan boxes that fit through a letter box. Outside the Netherlands PayPal or bank transfer. Binnen Nederland graag een bankoverschrijving. * With PayPal please choose the option 'send money to friend or family' instead of 'pay for goods or services.'
  19. For those unwilling to take their chances with this dead as a doornail reissue program, I have one copy of Anthony Braxton Quartet Santa Cruz 1993 for sale. I am planning on putting up a FS thread later today. If there is no interest I'll put it on eBay.
  20. Same here. I started cooking dinner after ten and later stumbled on that broadcast. I watch television very irregularly, if at all.
  21. Royal Tesco?
  22. http://youtu.be/NRhoHN8x_00 How far from Stamford, Connecticut, is La Crosse, Wisconsin?
  23. David Sánchez and Miguel Zenón.
  24. I've been getting interested in blu-spec2 releases lately. I noticed Mingus Ah Um is the original edited LP version! I almost missed that. Also on my wish list is Sonny Rollins's Now's the Time. This weekend, I ordered E.S.P., Miles Smiles, Sorcerer and Nefertiti. After hearing FLAC rips of the 2006 DSD mini-lps I became convinced the current Japanese editions are the best versions around of the remixed albums. The Japanese Agharta 2006 DSD remaster of the vinyl mix (now on blu-spec2) is also better than The Complete Columbia Albums version. It is a bit puzzling that these Japanese editions should often be better than the US/EU CDs. For TCCAC Wilder supposedly tweaked previous Japanese remasters, but they sound worse for it. The strange thing is Wilder is also responsible for most Japanese remasters (he did not do Agharta and Pangaea I think).
