  1. Some of the ones that came through Phoenix when I was growing up there- Wes Montgomery(it may have been his last gig ever), Hendrix,Cream,Duke Ellington,Miles those are just a few that I remember. I'd like to revisit the night when I saw Paul Butterfield(that was a good show). Also a few that as far as I know never came to Phoenix -Horace Silver with Blue and Junior,Art Blakey with Clifford and Lou Donaldson-Trane with McCoy,Elvin and Jimmy Garrison-Howlin Wolf,Little Walter and Sonny Boy Williamson and of course Charlie Parker.I'm sure more names will come to me later but those are some I can think of right off the top of my head-oh! one more Duane Allman.
  2. Pulled the trigger on the Parker 3 cd set and am looking forward to it.
  3. Good to see you check back here RT. Hurry back and start piling up those posts again.
  4. Damn I have this cd at home and I haven't listened to it in ages. Now I'll have to revisit it.
  5. Or Dylan,or Widespread Panic or Zappa or......
  6. Sounds pretty cool. Have a great time for me too.
  7. Please don't tell me you are still stuck with Detroit iron? . Seriously Patricia those cookies sound pretty good. Maybe you should introduce them into the Girl Scout mix . Until then I must vote for the thin mints.
  8. Conn you rascal.
  9. You're welcome Ghost.
  10. Which Parker Verve? The Master Takes 3-CD set? That's the one.
  11. Seems fair to me.
  12. This may work for the Yankees and it may not. Look at the New York Rangers .They keep dumping all this money on big name players and they're still in the crapper.
  13. Any thoughts on the Parker Verve it's at a nice price.
  14. This is interesting. I knew the board was down for whatever reason the other night and I went too AAJ to see if I could get some information as to why and there was nothing and now I know why. It's unfortunate that Mr. Ricci has made this decision as in regard to this board,JC etc.etc. but it is his board and if this policy blows up in his face then it's his problem. Let's move on.
  15. I really can't think of an instrument or vocal style that displeases me but I can think of a musical style where a lot of these instruments were used and that is the "Sweet Band" big bands. Everytime I hear one of those records I'm looking for the nearest porcealin god.
  16. I'll be very curious as to what gets released for the jam sessions.
  17. Just to clarify what I said earlier about Blue Note censoring their new board. What I had in mind was Blue Note coming down on people who had a beef with Norah Jones music which admittedly is speculation at this time. Personally I would have no problem with them censoring high school locker room crap like the stuff that showed up in that thread that Kevin posted . It's the idea of Blue Note censoring people who expressed objections to Norah Jones music that I would think is wrong but once again I realize that is just speculation at this time. At any rate the point is moot for me because at this time I have no intention of going over there and I agree with other posters that it's about time to give this bad boy a rest. Peace.
  18. I read an article today where she expressed displeasure with the idea that her music was being sold in a tv ad.
  19. I'm one of those people who have always liked the sound of the instrument. Check out Oscar Peterson's "Night Child" cd sometime.
