  1. Thanks Claude.
  2. Maybe Blue Note isn't the same as in the days of Alfred Lion but hell all things change. Even so Blue Note is a lot better than many labels these days.
  3. Does MPS have a web site and other than Dusty Groove are these reissues available in the US?
  4. I saw a Clifford Brown compilation under Spanish Blue Note listed on Dusty Groove does anybody know about that one?
  5. My sleep schedule or lack of same is fairly close to JSngrey. Lots of times I'll fall asleep with the tv on. I dont know why it works but it does.
  6. Glad your ok Alexander. Just curious but what if anything were you cited for? I'll echo the sentiments that the other driver will deal with this in a fair and upfront matter.
  7. I'll guess January 16th 724pm mountain time.
  8. Second that. I wonder how Toni Tenille would react to having this Captain as her duet partner?
  9. It's the brand-spankin' new "it hurts my ears like a hundred dogs", Organissimo Forums, catchphrase of the week!!! Second that.
  10. Greg has highjacked Jazzmoose and snuck back on the board-Aieeee!!!!!
  11. Or maybe he felt "dogged by Coltrane's legacy.
  12. Sorry I missed it what era Coltrane was being played?
  13. I understand that Martino is on Don Patterson's "Dem New York Dues". If that is indeed the case I must have it-I must!!!
  14. Being in the buisness I know it really sucks hard having to broadcast at reduced power. Hopefully now that they're up and running at full power they'll broadcast something that my fellow posters in the NYC area can enjoy.
  15. Jean Luc Ponty and Stephane Grappelli did a great duet album on Inner City and I believe Richie Cole and a singer by the name of Judy Roberts also recorded on the label. There were others but who they were escapes me at this time.
  16. I used to have some of his albums which I stupidly parted company with. Here's another vote for the Yoshi's cd. I picked up another of his cds from Marty Jazz.I'd like to check out the new cd and I'll be snagging more Martino music as it becomes available to me. Martino is super!!!!
  17. What an intimidating task. I'll own all the quality Getz music right after I rob a goddamn bank. Here's another vote for "Focus" and I'd like to recommend "the Final Concert Recording" with a core group of Getz,Kenny Barron,Alex Blake and Terri Lynne Carrington. As the title suggests it's a latter era Getz recording and he is in fine form on the date.
  18. I'll go along with the school of thought that says Blue Note isn't the same but they do have that great treasure trove of music that they keep reissuing I like Van Morrison,Al Green and Norah Jones and if they sell a bunch of cd's that will help motivate Blue Note into re releasing all that great music that I didn't get the first time well then that's alright with me.
  19. I believe that on Cal Tjader's album "Live At Grace Cathedral" he dedicated the compostion "I Showed Them" to Vince. I don't have any Guaraldi music except for the christmas cd's but that's something I'll change down the road. That Guaraldi and Bola Sete album look pretty cool. Guaraldi is alright in my book.
  20. When I first approached jazz I guess you could say I approached it from a totally wrong direction of course I'm not sure I'm approaching it from the right direction even now but I feel I'm at least closer. When I first approached jazz it was a matter of curiosity and then chemicals I didn't embrace the spiritual aspects of it until much later. Now it's hard to listen to someone like Horace Silver,Pharoah Sanders and Duke Ellington just to mention a few and not appreciate the spirituality and beauty in this music. Jazz performed by these masters and others is beyond compare.
  21. Chris does raise a good point. I understand all the reasons why Norah Jones name is greeted with hostility on the board but changing tactics and pointing Norah Jones fans to different music might not be such a bad idea but of course beware of spammers and trollers.
  22. Damn that's one percussive kind of guy.
  23. Oh sure days after I joined on 12 for 1.
