  1. Toby Keith,Travis Tritt,The Eagles.Hell why not put that sorry ass Mutt Lange in there and some of those country boy bands that seem in vouge these days. That does it I'm officially sick.
  2. Thanks Bev.
  3. Claus Ogerman arrangements and Bossa Nova are hitting the spot right now.
  4. Garrison that Philly Joe story was incredibly sad.You guys must really have this desire to make music deep in your blood.I'm constantly amazed at the amount of crap you have to put up with. Can I assume that you don't have the protection of a union wherever you work or you do you just don't want to have anything to do with the union or would it be harder on you if you tried to affiliate with one?
  5. The Dodgers did have a good opening day(forever Dodger blue!!!).I was reading Bill Mazeroski's baseball magazine and he picked LA first in the west-we shall see!!! A team that might surprise in the NL central are the Pirates. Will they win the division? Doubtful but they might have a bigger say in who does.
  6. I had never heard any of John Martyn's music but now you've got me curious.
  7. Additional thoughts.Johnny Cash continued to do quality work even after his hitmaking days were over.Anybody wanting to lament todays country music and there is a lot to lament-might want to assign blame to Ray Price,Jim Reeves,Patsy Cline and even Marty Robbins,Conway Twitty and Sonny James-all who brought a lot of pop influences to the table.
  8. danasgoodstuff-No problem for the delay.I appreciate your response.I agree with your observation on Johnny Cash.Hank Sr. probably deserves to be #1 because of his impact on country music but I do think that JR should be somewhere in the top five because of his tremendous output of classic music. Please don't tell me that Billy Ray Cyrus placed ahead of Bob Wills,George Jones and Marty Robbins. If he did I will be officially sick.
  9. Will the mystery guest sign in please?
  10. I'll probably regret asking this question but why?
  11. Did Bob Wills make this list and how did Johnny Cash fare?
  12. Here's another vote for Pentangle. One of these days I would like to get more into the solo stuff from Jansch and Renbourn.Does anybody know if "Reflections" is available in cd form?
  13. I'm hopeful but not optimisitic that they will.Besides Hunter that's the current home of another one of my favorites the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.
  14. Big Al the Ogerman set is worth every penny.
  15. It's been a dog's age since I listened to John Fahey.He's another I'll have to revisit.
  16. jmjk-If you can find it check out Johnny Paycheck's "Me and the IRS". Rather timely this time of the year.
  17. Jazzmoose don't you mean Michael Jordan? As for Kenny Drew I wonder how many of those newspaper guys were part of the "Blue Train" sessions?
  18. Hi! My name is Chris Olivarez and I'm a Dustygrooveaholic.I feel the strong urge to break wind.Thousands may die-aieeee!!!
  19. In regards to the Oscar Ceremony my vote is with Mr.Moose . It's largely self serving crap anyway. As a rule of thumb I not a big fan of musicals as they are usually too corny, schmaltzy what have you for my tastes but this one deviates from the norm enough to make it entertaining and interesting.
  20. Buddy Emmons did some good work with Danny Gatton.I wonder if the Verve recording is along the same lines?
  21. I saw "Chicago" the other night. It deserved those academy awards.
  22. Only if you send that snow to sw Colorado.
  23. Is anybody here familiar with the group Charlie Hunter works with "Garage a Trois"-if so what are they like?
  24. A Pez dispenser-yeah that's the ticket.
