  1. Although they haven't officially announced it, CDBaby is working on a deal with Amazon.com. I think they are in the "beta test" phase right now. I was shocked to see WFTBS up there at a reasonable price (there has been some loser selling it for $40 on there for years). My guess as to the long wait is because if someone orders it, it has to ship from CDBaby to Amazon and then from Amazon to the person. That would also explain the inflated price, since you can get it for $12.99 at CDBaby.
  2. If you log out of the chat room, but leave the window open, your name will still appear on the forum index as if you were in the chat room. I logged off the other night, but left all my browser windows open, so that's why I wasn't actually in there.
  3. I got this in time for a weekend full of driving. I haven't had a chance to listen too closely, but I'm digging it. I tried listening to it in my van on the way to Detroit with Joe on Friday, but it wasn't clicking. I think it's because the grooves rely so heavily on the interplay between the drums and Lonnie's bass lines and my van is severely lacking in the bass department. I listened to the whole disc on the way home from a Bay City Root Doctor gig in our lead singer's van which has a much better sound system and I was really digging it! I was most impressed, coming back to the bass and drums, with drummer Allison Miller. She was laying that stuff DOWN! Good release all around and I think Palmetto has the best recorded Hammond organ sound that I've ever heard. The organ just sounds awesome.
  4. I did, but only because my wife really likes his music. He's a very formidable musician.
  5. Great article. Thank you for posting and thank you Mark, for writing. Beautiful piece.
  6. i, on the other hand, will take periodic naps to bolster my constitution, much to the chagrin of my chaperone above. ...don't you mean "non-stop"? I find it hard to sleep while there is good music being played somewhere! I was in Chicago late last night and was listening to Chicago public radio on the ride home and they mentioned Organissimo several times as playing at this years festival and then kicked into one of their tunes off the latest cd! m~ That's good to know!
  7. The guy is an original, that's for sure.
  8. Got my second order via FedEx just now. Haven't opened it to check the contents... we'll see if the 5 Spot is in there (doubtful).
  9. Methinks it's time for the BB gun.
  10. Yes, it is on CD: Dave Pike - Manhattan Latin
  11. While certain genres of shows have probably gotten better (dramas, sci-fi, etc.) the amount, quality, and variety of actual music programming on TV has massively declined, imo.
  12. That was badass. Thanks for posting.
  13. I like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYqhWtYcMqA
  14. That's very scary. Try turning it off once in awhile. Since the NBA is in the off-season, I don't really watch much TV. I probably won't watch too much NBA when it starts up again, either. I kinda like not being glued to the tube for inconsequential matters.
  15. Don't post active links to NAMBLA here, ok?
  16. It's coming in the mail for me!
  17. How about arranging them so they're looking at each other, trying to mess with each other's heads? "You think you're bad?" "Badder than your sad ass." "I'm badder than all of you suckers!" "I'm so bad I don't even have to say how bad I am."
  18. Some Jimmy to Ponder... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsSCJkCc2B0

  20. I prefer their ad-campaign from the early 90s...
  21. There are some missing chords in that chart. Big time.
  22. Cool! Too bad we can't hook up! Good luck on the tour!
  23. Neat. I'm still curious as to whether Sam was playing in Simon's band on that special.
