  1. DO NOT ORDER FROM TOWER! From CDBaby, who sells our CDs: They are going under, folks! Don't order from them!
  2. Funky dunky!
  3. I think people are just inundated with music and so they could care less when they pass by it, even if it's someone playing live rather than music being piped out of some speakers. Think about it: Everywhere you go, there is some sort of music on. It gets to be too much.
  4. I think most parrots are crazy, probably because they are locked up in cages or in people's homes. They're supposed to be in the wild.
  5. It hasn't been fixed because it's supposed to work but doesn't. You're supposed to be able to use quotes to surround a phrase, such as typing "clarence shaw" in the search box. But as you know, it doesn't work. When I've explained this to Invision, they just say "it should work". So I'm not really sure what to do.
  6. Here here.
  7. Or blame NPR. To claim that they were the best funk group ever is pretty ridiculous. It's impressive that young kids sounded that good and they deserve props, but I agree... let's not go overboard!
  8. Yeah, I heard that report on NPR today while driving to my gig, too. I couldn't believe that was a high school band! Damn, those kids were funky!
  9. Ask and ye shall receive: An alternate take of "Tenderly" complete with some flubs here and there. That's what happens when you're improv'ing and stuff...
  10. C'mon... leaving a dog to guard a room like that is almost inhumane. That's temptation to the highest degree for a canine!!!
  11. Blah blah blah. Who cares? Bunch of blowhards.
  12. You can usually just tape it yourself. Get some thin clear tape, make sure you're taping the BACK of it, not the front, slap the tape on there and use a razor blade to cut off the excess clear tape. Voila!
  13. That's great to hear, Ed. I hope the happiness continues! Congrats!
  14. I would talk to a piano supply company like Shaft Piano Supply about felts. They have every felt known to man and you can order them in bulk and cut them to length and width yourself (the correct depth has to be ordered from the git-go). Be sure to replace the upstop and downstop felts, the long felt strips that run all the way under the keys on the bed (downstop) and the ones that run along the black key plates (one of which has the "Hammond" screened on it - upstop felts). I did this to my '58 B3 recently and it made a HUGE difference in the action. I'm not sure about refinishing the metal. Some kind of anti-rust cleaner might help. Maybe those folks are painting them with metallic paint? Not sure. As long as you stop the rust, that's the important thing. I clean my keys with a regular household cleaner like 409 and some paper towel. It won't take stains out of them, but it'll get 'em nice and clean! Keep in mind that Hammond keys are supposed to be off-white / bordering on almond.
  15. The film has nothing to do with the old resort in Michigan, just the name is the same. I don't know where they came up with the name. Interesting article on a real Idlewild: http://www.lsj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?A...88/1001/opinion
  16. Randy played with him last year (I think). Perhaps we can share a story. RIP.
  17. The last few days have been miserably hot in Michigan, but it's supposed to break tonight. I'm at my mother-in-law's, who has A/C, with the family. We slept last night in our house, which never dipped below 87 degrees. By noon it was 91 degrees inside the house. I was in the basement most of the day, which was probably about 80. Zora was in daycare, so she was okay. I worried about her last night. I put two fans in her room: One in the window and one blowing directly on her. My wife and I had to make due with one fan. One of the worst nights of sleep that I can remember! Tonight I'll be sleeping like a baby! But hey... as hot as it gets, we still have it good. Running water, roof over our head, good food in a working fridge. I can't complain. I had fun today, actually, chillin' in the basement, going through hours of live organissimo recordings.
  18. Let's cool it, ok? I really don't want to close this thread.
  19. Hey hey, let's slow down folks. This isn't the "moralize about other peoples judgements" thread. Let's stick to the discussion at hand, eh?
  20. This is so awesome I just couldn't let it get lost in the big Youtube thread. Courtesy of GregN: Randy & Joe, are you thinking what I'm thinking?
  21. I'm glad I ordered that as part of my second order! I'm looking forward to hearing it.
  22. We can control how we react to situatons as they arrive. We cannot control other people's lives or actions or events that we do not create (some would argue that we help create every event that happens to us, but I'm not one of them). However, we can influence them. I agree with your statement in principle, but there is an undercurrent of passivism in it that I don't necessarily agree with. I try as hard as I can to take my head out of my own space (which is dominated by music) and wrap it around my wife's situations. Sometimes I fail miserably and she's very patient with me. I'm sure she's tired of hearing about my gigs, the inter-personal relationships between band members, etc. but she still asks. I need to listen more to her.
  23. Orchestral Manuvers In The Dark and Oingo Bingo. I file my my collection backwards, starting with Z. Okay, I'm totally lying about all that. My CDs are a mess and it's amazing I can ever find anything. And I don't have any OMD or Oingo. I do have some Ozric Tentacles, though...
