  1. And what about Trudy Pitts groovin' on the B3!!!
  2. And of course the lovely Rhoda Scott (no relation to Shirley!)
  3. I missed this one the first time around, too! And I can't believe no one has mentioned one of my favorite organists, Ms. Shirley Scott!!!
  4. Well, Interplay holds the rights to the Fallout brand and they've cancelled and restarted the project 3 times. Who knows if it's actually going through? My guess would be no, but there's always hope. I would go to the Interplay website to find patches for Fallout2.
  5. There were some bad bugs in the game. If you download the latest patch, it would fix it and allow you to finish the game I think.
  6. There is also rumors about Fallout 3 being in development. Fallout 3 FAQ
  7. So which Fallout did you play, Conn? The first one or the second one? Both are great games.
  8. I love trombone. It's a fantastic instrument. That said, it's now time for the obligatory trombone joke: What's the difference between a dead frog in the road and a dead trombonist? The frog was on his way to a gig. BA-DUM CHING!
  9. There was Fallout and Fallout2. Fallout2 was a true sequel to the first. There are rumors that Fallout3 is in development. You play Diablo online through Battle.net which is one of the options when you start the game. Click the "Battlenet" button and make an account. The shitty thing is, since you've never played online, you've probably never updated the game so the first thing it'll do on Battlenet is automatically download a patch for the game. They are up to version 1.10 and you have to have the newest version to play online. It's a relatively big download, but worth it.
  10. Conn, The replay value in Diablo is based on finding items. The game is way more fun online, playing with other people. The joy is in finding rare items and runes and trading and such. I wish they would make a game like Diablo, but set in a Fallout-type world, complete with full multiplayer support. That would be the schizzle.
  11. This thread is very close to being shut down. Are we here to talk about jazz or are we here to masterbate? There are plenty of other sites out there if it's the latter. I'm getting tired of this bullshit.
  12. This is very tempting as and of yet I do not have a gig on that day. Hmmm...
  13. bertrand, I know where you're coming from and believe me, I'm glad you were not one of the one's lost in the fray. I'm glad you're still here. My personal opinion concerning deep is that some people do actually think he's funny and an asset to the board. You may not agree and that's fine, but this place, just like the world, is made up of all sorts of different kinds of people and just because a few might offend my sensibilities doesn't mean I can't learn something from them. I'm not trying to give a grade school lesson on diversity here, just making a point that may or may not be out there... one man's treasure...
  14. It is a loss to this board, but honestly some people FREAKED OUT before anything even happened with DEEP. Remember the silly "Is Board Degredation Inevitable?" thread? He's sequestered himself in one thread, which is awfully easy to ignore, even without an ignore feature. Personally, I take everything he says with 200lbs of salt.
  15. I refuse to take any blame for the BNBB closing down. Anyone who opens up a discussion forum on the internet that grows to over 4,000 members and doesn't moderate it is asking for trouble. It is my responsability to see that this board has adequate moderation. Right now two moderators are all we need. If we grow to over 4,000 members, you can bet your recent RVG purchase that we'll add one or two more moderators. Blue Note had a great thing and they killed it without realizing the power of what they had. Hell, I would've moderated it for $10 a day. An extra $300 a month? Sign me up! That's nothing to a record company that sold over 18 million copies of a CD. Exactly how were we, praytell, supposed to stop people from posting things like aric did? Get on his case? Call him stupid? That only "feeds the fire". The only way to stop it is to delete it. And none of us had the power to do that.
  16. Bringing this up because of sal's recent thread right here. My brother and I have been playing Diablo II: Lord of Destruction since it came out about 4 years ago... online, playing together. It has excellent replay value. Why they haven't made a game like Diablo but based in a more Fallout-type world is beyond me. That would be SWEET! Has anyone seen the movies for Half-Life 2? That game looks absolutely INCREDIBLE! I won't be able to play it, however, unless I put together a totally new computer! Doom3 looks amazing too as well as the next Halo. I need to get another Xbox.
  17. The Further Adventures of Jimmy & Wes The organ on this record just sounds so beautiful on vinyl. The bass especially. Nothing like organ bass on vinyl...
  18. I still don't get what the big deal is with her. Every time I've seen her perform live (on TV... no way am I paying for concert tickets) she sings out of tune. And her voice sounds weak. I hate Celine Dion, but at least she sings in tune... in-ear monitors or no. Her material just sucks. That song co-written by Richard Marx that she sang (and he accompanied) was one steaming pile of poo. I've heard better compositions coming from 10 year olds. I turned it off after the funk segment. I agree that Sandoval's appearance was pretty lame. I kept expecting him to blow some shit over that groove (it was a halfway decent groove compared to everything else) but nope... just a string of high notes. Yippee. I didn't wait and watch the Chick Corea thing. My wife went to bed so I turned off the TV. Does one of the Brecker Bros. win a Grammy every year? I already know Metheny does. The academy is nothing but consistent.
  19. That's reassuring! I'm glad they're not using the audio guys from last year... nice guys... they just didn't really understand how to run sound for a jazz group. We just spent some serious bread on upgrading our sound system, so I'm more than happy to use it. And the kitchen being open is HUGE!
  20. Conn is referring to the fact that I had my Leslie speaker situated directly behind me for the first set this Friday at the Firefly. This is the defacto setup I use when playing at Founders in Grand Rapids, but we have a sound system and I mic the Leslie and put it through the main speakers. We didn't use the sound system at the Firefly for that and I didn't think about the fact that my body and my big head might block the sound coming out of the Leslie! Sounded good from where I was sitting, that's for sure! I moved the Leslie for the second and third sets... BTW, they usually have a sound system at Dockers as well, although the last time we played there I wish they didn't. Whoever the sound people were brought this GIGANTIC system, far too large for the room, and mic'd everything up as if it were a Deep Purple concert. I hit one note on my organ before we started and it just about took my head off!!! Hopefully they'll let us use our own system.
  21. Muskegon is on Lake Michigan at the end of I-96, about two hours from Lansing so about three from Ann Arbor. You coming Chuck?
  22. Jimmy was doing some things back then that he never really touched again. I think this is the stuff that haunted Coltrane. Before he went to his more blues-based playing, he was experimenting with the organ, seeing what he could do with it. Some of the tracks on that Mosaic are wild, unlike any organ playing since.
  23. What about the Ness-ster? (Mr. Chuck Nessa)
