  1. One other note: There was a lot of hoopla about us doing a certain Smiths tune. Not one, but two members offered to send a cdr of said tune, but never delivered. Of course, it would be improper to name them here: Jazzypaul, and Rooster_Ties. If you want this tune considered, you know what to do.
  2. We haven't let ourselves off the hook either. We've been a little slammed lately, and Jim & Alison's baby is due any minute now. We plan on recording 1 or 2 tunes every week until it's done. So call off the Ben brigade for the moment. Thanks for the kick in the ass, though.
  3. Is it too late to join in the fun?
  4. I love guitar music. That occupies most of my listening time. But then there's... piano drums violin sarod cello voice brass saxamaphone harmonica and onward.... As far as adapting music originally played on other instruments; absolutely. Jim just bought Grant Green's Goin West, and there's a solo by Herbie that I really want to dig into. It's so clear, and just a wealth of ideas. Instruments kind of force the players to think along certain lines sometimes, so it's a very good idea to cross-pollenate. Sundog: Some Cornell Dupree recommendations would be much appreciated!!! That's a baaaad man.
  5. No time to search this thread, but has anyone recommended a decent player for under $150-200?
  6. Once it's out, it will probably be available from http://www.johnmclaughlin.com/. It will be a 3-dvd set. That's all I know.
  7. Looks interesting (like I don't have enough instructional materials already ).
  8. I don't think it got that warm in Lansing; more like high 70's, but yes, very very nice. Still is nice; the sky is in twilight. I think I might go out and sit in the backyard for a bit and feel the breeze.
  9. The Noj speaks true. He's got a bunch of funky schtuff.
  10. I missed this the first time around, and thought it deserved a BUMP. Best of luck, Luke.
  11. Brandon, you bring up another usage I've seen that's more akin to "quotes" than bold or italics. That's why I was a little confused on the issue. I'm waiting to see someone replace ( ) with * *. Then I will be lost for sure.
  12. What exactly does placing an asterisk on either side of a word convey? Sometimes it seems to be used for emphasis in the same way that bold, italics, or underline do, but if so, why not stick with those time-honored devices? Or is there some subtle nuance that I'm not picking up on? I'm sure this is yet another example of internet-speak, but one that has me slightly baffled. Users, explain yourselves!
  13. Damn! Either Joe's fatter than his picture on the CD cover indicates, or he's pretty fast on the draw at those porn sites.... Thanks for the links, bro!
  14. Is three out of four acceptable?
  15. <sigh> It's just as well. I can barely hack into my own email account. So much for my delusions of grandeur.
  16. Down, or up?
  17. Sam Yahel has a good organ trio date on Naxos jazz.
  18. Oh, I see how it is. The minute your precious board administrator is the least bit threatened, you drop me like a hot rock. Rick Hicks, ay? I'll remember that...
  19. I was thinking that myself ...
  20. Keep working it, fatso.
  21. If there's anyone here who needs validation, I'd say it's the person who started this thread!
  22. Let us know if you need a promo pack or anything. B)
  23. I appreciate the thought ... the joke is that my name is Gloss, not Glass.
