  1. hah... whenever I play Ornette at the studio the other guys say it sounds like "two skeletons farking"
  2. I really like the "ICP Plays Monk / Nichols" I also like Bennink's caligraphy.
  3. March 31st in Boston at the ICA. Nice pash-indian place across Mass Ave if anyone needs to add to Bennink's prrrresss rrrolllsss.
  4. Any of you heard of Antonello Vannucchi? I'm sure everybody has heard him though. The more I listen to, what some might call semi-cheesy, Italian film music (morricone excluded, please) the more I see this guy on just about everything from the early sixties onward. I even find he is on a new record by Daniel Luppi (?) that pays hommage to stinky frommage.
  5. 18 inches big whoop! aren't the Olympics on or something? ... you would think that the weatherfolks would at least need to go to the bathroom at some point if for nothing more than to use up all that TP everyone buys. since I have no cable I'm bout ready to open up a big can of doppler effect on them meterologists!
  6. Hey Jim or others, have you heard BJT's "Texas Style" record? w/ Milt Buckner (piano); Slam Stewart (bass, background vocals); Jo Jones (drums) and recorded in France ... not Paris, Texas. Royyy!
  7. Them electralyte pushers tried to get the Willis Jackson license but he still owed Muse some more sides.
  8. Well I just got off the phone with Reid and he kindly sent me the retouched version. Seems that EMI is trying to promote a healthier lifestyle and why not start at the top with the middle weight champion.
  9. what on earth ... how can you possibly even do that on this record? that must have took some doing to pull it off. Higgins is the show here ... but to each his own I guess ... these RVGs will no doubt sound just spectacular dependent upon your individual system.
  10. In today's day and age these press releases would usually notify that "Mosaic has teamed up to bring you the most sought after collectables in jazz via exclusive arrangements and nice black and white downloads from iTunes!" Thanks to Mosaic for , as the kiddios say - "keeping it real".
  11. Other than shitty performance with Jamie Foxx. Sorry. damn straight! i felt kinda bad for Jamie being dressed like he should have been high steppin' his way to dot the "i" down in Columbus. I do try my best to sing that annoyingly godawful song in the worstest godawfullestest annoyingest way whenever it comes on the radio just to piss off my girls. it worked like a charm when they liked that Avril Livigne song that made for an easy lyric change to "constipation".
  12. here I thought they were photoshopping out the butt and replacing it with a sammich.
  13. The woman who sang with Herbie. Gwen Stefani from the band No Doubt, now on a solo thing. She used to sing in a high alto/soprano, now she's singing with this r&b voice. I was not watching since I was working but heard it and it's Christina Aguamalaria that was singing w/ HH - since she's on his newer album ... Stefani is preggers now ... she was in "The Aviator" and has legs that you shoulod all know about!!!! I think she might have an inseam of about five feet. and her shit is bananas ... B.A.N.A.N.A.YES.! my daughter loves her so the room posters are just fine! Now what about Sam Moore blowing the lyrics to Wilson Pickett . sheesh! happy to report I had never heard that U2 "song of the year"! Yay for me!
  14. Chuck's probably right, but if something comes out of it that could not be seen otherwise then obviously it's all moot and more power to ya. I had my first one just last week. I brought Sun Ra w/ me as it seemed appropo when slid into the ship. The sonics sucked big time and I attempted to just meditate after I told the tech to cut the toons for me - I just pretended Mickey Hart was trying to get in. Tomorrow I go to see what the deal is and whether it was worth it. Hope it all turns out alright Jim ...
  15. so if this RVG turns out to be a duck we'll at least know who to blame.
  16. Are Telarc classicals from the late seventies and early eighties still a so-called audiophile product? I've got a box of them still in their sealed "baggies" - all pedestrian titles but goodies. I recall that being the label of choice under DGrmphns. I think they are digital masters tho, right? My dates might be wrong so I'll need to dig them out.
  17. Played with a 'nano' at an Apple store the other day. Just make sure you've gone on a diet and aren't puffy from water retention as your fingers need to be as sharp as pencils to get that wheel to listen to you. I doubt whether Bronco would buy one.
  18. hey couw did you see who the 'author' was? Helge Schneider!
  19. i'll have to disagree ... while you may not be "contributing" to the dialogue of fine art you are still plying your craft and your god given talent. don't sell it short that you are "just " a craftsman either.
  20. that's not nearly as sick as this pepe le pew love doll!
  21. and speaking of Baron Samedi .... i also purchased the DVD of "Corpse Bride" this weekend. essential viewing, jewish or not, if for only seeing that Tim Burton, while beginning to look like Miami Steve, reminds me creatively of Zorn in that anything goes within his vision as long as it requires work, work, work. the special features behind this flick are nothing short of an astounding glimpse into a crazed mind and the buddies who bring it all to "life".
  22. steering this off course a bit (as I'm not Jewish) but I spun bits of a NetfliX delivery this weekend of the 'Masada @ Tonic' DVD. far cry from a documentary - just the live gist on film. three words, as the "well-dressed man" might say, - "Joey Fuckin' Baron!"
