  1. I know I'm a bit late, but, i just ordered up "Iron Giant" in it's special edition. I've heard it's absatutely fantastic. Googling reveals that Lou's "Blues Walk" is on the soundtrack?!!!
  2. Is it necessary to flush the toilets?
  3. You guys need to start filing like in Japan: Instrument as played by the leader on the session is categorized first, horns descending to rhythm, then by first name of the leader within those subsets of alto, baritone, tenor, trumpet, piano, bass, drums, vibes and so on.
  4. Catesta C, you coulda used this one instead of the Hooters Girl!!
  5. that cover is so stooopid!!!
  6. Yes Virginia Woolf, There is a Santa Claus! It's Christmas for Jim!!! Bastards!
  7. Happy Birthday, John!!!!
  8. I'd suggest one of these throw pillows as an accent piece.
  9. Clusone 3 does up "White Christmas" on 'Soft Lights, Sweet Music' and usually suits my mood best with their interpretation!
  10. I may be wrong but I think the two older Japanese Fontanas of "Mexican Green" and "100% Proof" are not remastered by the same person who did the new series that are highlighted above by Late. The newer issues of the Scott's two are stupendous sounding in comparison. Just my opinion.
  11. So in keeping with the questions of the month: is it "oh-dear" or "ho-dee-air"?
  12. I've been thinking about getting this one , I think you may have pushed me over the edge. If you do, and you should, skip to track two right off as the opener's trumpeter takes a Chet vocal feature with not nearly enough "horse" power. It's almost worth a Blutarsky. And let me know if you can figure out why the UKs Bembe Segue needs to have such a "brooyyklyn" intonation. Too much Bernadette Peters in the diet. Everything else is fantastic IMO - on the edge of a Messengers meets Pearson with some dead on Hendersonisms and bits of Booker Ervin with sugar. It's no St. Germain by any means. (That's a good thing) Stellar playing all around and it's Copy Protection does not work!
  13. I'm with sidewinder as well when looking back. Domestics aside- Rendell / Carr "Shades of Blue & Dusk Fire" Gilles Peterson "Impressed 2" Barney Wilen's IDA catalogue as completed for me by the good folks in the EU! Jim R's 'Hard Bossa" thread hipped me to a sound I only had few of but wrung the wallet dry. Tenorio Jr, Bossa Tres, Mereilles, Dom Um Romao etc... are now essential. Nessa's Marsh's "All Music" was much nicer to deal with than the changes at AllMusic.com My odd-duck guilty-pleasure is the Blue Note-Italy release of Nicola Conte's "New Directions". Not-so-hard-modal-acid-skoochie-bop if that's what you call it. (it's entirety rises above the two cuts that are absolute dreck!) My wackiest pick was copped from a BFT and found used courtesy of RDK of the Belgian Band FES - "Armstrong Mutations". I could go on...
  14. Bought my 69 yr old mother the new U2 over Thankgiving visit. A bit too same-o for me but mom digs the Edge!
  15. Que-pon or Koo-pon. Kitty Korner or Catty Corner. Poop-on or Poo-Pawn.
  16. Lashing her to the 150 marker would not be nice enough.
  17. Aside from Dan waxing on about how Monica keeps a supply in her purse I got to tell ya that Rolos were nearly my favorite childhood food. Now they are spackle filled PVC pucks as compared to the subject at hand.
  18. I did not buy these double-disc textured mat-board long-book German issues of Sonny Rollins, Monk, Bud, Blakey, Getz, Miles etc, etc, yesterday. Boy they looked quite nice for $11.99 each. They seemed to be a culling of hits and such from various labels... Monk were the Blue Notes, Miles the Prestige and so on. Anyone seen these sets?
  19. I think some nice pumpkin ravioli with a carmelized onion and gorgonzola sauce and whatever else is lying around might be nice with some humongous syrah.
  20. So Dan can you describe eating one of those caramel filled Hershey Kisses for us ... just to get back to the topic!!!
  21. Maybe some of you who are more musically charmed than I can tell me what I should be hearing that is so great in the playing of Roy Campbell? I recently perused the Penguin and see that he studied w/ Lee Morgan and Cook and Morton even give him great accolades. Fine as a colorist but for me any session I hear with him in support is usually sunk when he spotlites. I'm trying to make some rationale for this guy but I just can't.
