I've been trying to pass along D'Silva's "Integration" (pristine in sound, btw) from this series to no ears. Any takers? Offering

She had a helluva band on that first disc - hence my reason to buy it when it came out and I couldn't get it out of my hands fast enough. I think David Sedaris does a better job.

I was glad to see that 'Trane never finished slathering the joint mud in that garage shot. We do have something in common!! -
Elements Of The 7th: Rhythm Process = 2x(y)+3
Man with the Golden Arm replied to JSngry's topic in Recommendations
As usual JS is on the mark with his initital post here. Just received this one yesterday and listened during a long drive this morning. Thanks for the trip. Not for the short of attention span folk like me but I stuck with it and really appreciated the groove they had such a good time laying down. That first track, "3", clocking in at twenty or more, reminded me of King Sunny Ade concerts from a couple decades back. The boys got the ju-ju going on this one and really set a great foundation from the spaghetti wah-wah get go to the slinky solos that follow. The first take of "Move" had me thinking of some reggae-fied hi-life and that came to be the case on the reprise (Gayton's bone workouts are worth a further "who is this guy" disclaimer). Shipp runs thru his typical morning sun salutations with "Astro Nugget" but had me thinking that this bit is becoming just that - certainly inspiring within this context but the same old we've heard before. bitch - bitch - bitch ...My only dissapointment with this recording is the "playing" by Campbell on the fantastic "Blue 19". Shipp and the smaller rhythm section here put up a perfect descarga (?) as a set for trumpet but Roy has no idea what to do with it. Maybe his expressed intention of setting up some tension while wavering around the melody is exactly what he wants and his sphincter clenching squealo makes me wonder why Shipp didn't just get up from the bench and give him one on chops (and I use that loosely). Great stuff none the less and while most "jam" music usually begs for a fast forward after a few minutes this one gets better as the time goes on. -
Thanks for the heads up on the homepage. Listening now...nice. Can somebody tell me where that keyb lick on "Bedda at Home" is from ... man that's a catchy little vamp if that's what ya call it. Looks like this might be the stocking stuffer for the ever soul lovin wife. Too much...Just got the "Elements of the 7th" from Jim's last rave... still awaiting that "Jerome Richardson at the Movies" to show in CD form.

I've been listening to my mini-disc of this paired w/ the "Another Workout" in the car just this past week. Must have been something subliminal going on w/ the November BN calendar and Bresnahan's avatar.

I'll not confess but ... that scene with the burrito!!!! Needs a pinch more Lynch ... you know some One Eyed Jacks, White Lodge, Well Dressed Man, Beamans Gum .... but they do have some Killer Bobs! -
Has anyone heard this issue. Not certain that the material herein could be obtained through regular issues(?). So... any comments on the quality of this set or is it a dubious rip at best?

SO... how are these LoneHill Jazz issues? Sound quality versus ethicality.

Since we all be art directing...I like this 2716 and shades. Maybe a tad more on the periwinkle side would suit the manly men. -
Go out and buy something really expensive such as an OOP Fontana side or a huge Mosaic box. That way the ability of the seratonin firing in your brain and the pain from your wallet will have a direct influence upon your ears.

While I've never been a member of the BMG club I do see that they offer the K2s as "free" and have quite a few titles. Granted when all is said and done you are probably out $8.00 each but I am curious if these deals are worth it??

Didn't that Box bust up all of Gordon's LPs into a sessions chronology? I recall Giddins being put-off by the bastardization of sequencing. -

Dan, those sound sweet. Can't go wrong with the great stuff to work with. Never one for "sports talk" I did become an avid listener of WEEI up here from the Angels Series thru this past weekend's events. One orchestration came during the pre-game of ALCS#4 against the Yanks. They played the entirety of Springsteen's "Darkness On the Edge of Town" behind Castiglione's calls of all the Sox mishaps and Yankee triumphs from the first three games. I was chuckling at the brilliance of that call feeling just how out of reach what came to be was at the time. You can check out a great deal of audio from WEEI at MLB.com. Not sure how swipable those files are but they provide some nice moments from the hometown chops. BTW I picked up an extra Globe if you need one. Congrats to all !!! ...and that memory of wiffle ball emulation runs across the yards. I recall the "heel up" with Ken "The Hawk" Harrelson at the plate or the half dozen windmills when Stargell was in the box. And thank god for the Sox that the din of Velcro will be heard in New England neighborhoods "nomar"! -
