  1. If you google tunebite it will come right up.
  2. I am now seeing deleted CMG titles in Staples stores in my area, $8.99, I know I will see them cheaper at Newberry's, only a matter of time.
  3. If you wanted to include someone a little younger, try Ryan Cohan, I think his Here and Now release is aces.

    Bruce Katz

You will find Bruce Katz on several Ronnie Earl cd's, I think the best one he is on is Grateful Heart which also has Fathead Newman on 5-6 tracks. His solo dates have been consistently good although I have not heard his latest. He also has a long relationship with Duke Robillard. I was surprised to see he has been on the last two Joe Louis Walker cd's which I have not heard. He also has a project with Joel Frahm playing all Aretha Franklin songs, I have heard that is a bit light weight. Katz also supplies able support on 3 cd's on Audioquest by Joe Beard which are among my favorite blues cd's.
  5. I usually season with salt, pepper, and worcestershire sauce in the burger before grilling. I also find any burger leaner than 85% is too dry. Lately I have been seasoning with salt, pepper and a little cayenne pepper and then using habernero jack cheese on top, not as hot as it sounds but really delicious. Lastly, I like to use a slice of American cheese topped with a little cheddar (when not using habernero jack) makes a visually appealing burger. I have only recently discovered Siracha sauce (great on veggie wraps and chicken veggie wraps or on eggs), haven't tried it on a burger yet, only a matter of time.
  6. I am on occasional vinyl buyer. Generally I am picking up something on impulse (and maybe on Impulse!) and I am lucky to have a shop near me that has a good selection in good shape. Between vinyl and cd purchases and downloads of ROIO things I really can't keep up with everything that I have gathered.
  7. I am not sure if this has been mentioned in this thread but I seem to remember that Pablo's were priced a dollar more than most releases during the 70's (6.98 list compared to 5.98 for most everything else).
  8. Hey Flurin, if you get a chance, check out Friedlander's Broken Arm Trio release. It swings.
  9. Stanley Cowell, Illusion Suite.
  10. Roy Haynes, People, King reissue of a Pacific Jazz date with Frank Strozier. The price tag is still on it, 7.99 in 1991.
  11. I wouldn't try to convince anyone that the Carnegie Hall jam (Mingus at Carnegie Hall on Atlantic) mentioned by Jim Sangrey a few posts back belongs in the top 5 Mingus sessions, but it is the Mingus disc I have listened to the most through the years. I just can't help reaching for this to hear George Adams and Roland Kirk together. After that its probably the Candids I have reached for next.
  12. If you get a chance check out Sonny Barbato on George Schuller's take on Filles de Kilamanjaro from Schuller's Playscape recording, Round 'Bout Now. You can also look for Youtube entries for Cory Pesaturo.
  13. While I am sure you can recite many instances of jazz accordion recordings I think its not quite accurate to say there has been "plenty", it would have to be some small fraction of 1% of all jazz recordings that feature accordion.
  14. From today's Boston Globe. He has two cd's with George Garzone on board. Have not heard them.....yet. http://www.boston.com/ae/music/articles/20..._accordion_hip/
  15. I agree, this is an excellent price. I would buy if I didn't already have it.
  16. I missed lps in supermarkets by just a few years. I do have a couple or three records with the sticker on the shrink wrap at 88 cents. I bought the majority of the above mentioned lps at a department store at, I think, $1.97 or thereabouts.
  17. I had to look twice, but yes its The Geat Jamboree on the front, and The Great Jamboree onthe back.
  18. Sometime in the late 70’s or possibly early 80’s I picked up a bunch of cheap records on the Hall of Fame Jazz Greats label. Some of the records were clearly studio dates from other labels and put out, I presume, without proper license. They also had at least 4 records of Jazz at the Philharmonic material. Cadence identified these as coming from 2 JATP concerts from Hartford 9/17/54 and Chicago 2/10/55. These include JG 628, 631, and 632. My questions are: Does anyone know the source of JG 630 “The Titans”? This features Sonny Stitt, Dizzy Gillespie and Stan Getz. I assume its from one of the two shows making up 628, 631 and 632. I don’t have JG 629, does anyone have this and is it also more JATP material? JG 628 The Great Jam-boree Jazz Concert Blues (Hartford) The Swing Set (Chicago) Rich’s Explosion (Chicago) The Blues (Chicago) JG 631 Jazz Moods I Didn’t Know What Time It Was (Chicago) Lover Man (Chicago) The Man I Love (Hartford) Tenderly (Chicago) My Old Flame(Chicago) Body and Soul (?) A Ghost of a Chance (?) Imagination (Hartford) I’ll Never Be the Same (Hartford) Stardust (Hartford) JG 632 Jazz Berry Jam The Modern Set (Chicago) Bellson Drum Solo (Hartford) The Challenge (Hartford) Willow Weep for Me (Chicago) As far as I can tell, Verve issued two lps worth of material from these two concerts in 1983, I have been searching through my stuff but I can’t find them. AllMusic doesn’t have track listings, can anyone tell me what is on them? I also have JG 633 which has 3 cuts by the Gene Krupa 4tet and an 11 ½ minute track by Max Roach/Clifford Brown. Anyone know the date of this Roach/Brown tune, if there was anymore from this date, and has it been released anywhere else? Thanks.
  19. I would second Brownie's rec for John Graas. I would also note that Cadence has several (all?) of the Graas issues on Lonehill for $12. My personal favorite is Jazzmantics which couples two lps, Jazzmantics and Coup de Graas. Art Pepper is well featured on this cd. Also present are Pete and Conte Candoli, Bob Cooper, Buddy Collette, Jack Sheldon, Herb Geller, Red Callender, ect.
  20. Thanks Jeff and Lon.
  21. I have Round Midnight on the Legacy Edition of 'Round About Midnight, have Hackensack and Now's The Time also been issued? If so, are any of the issues reasonably available?
  22. I saw three Beatles box sets at my local Best Buy today.
  23. Hadn't seen that cover before, very nice shot.
  24. One of the sad things about this is that now when I see a Concord Group cd, I assume it will be available cheaply in relatively short order. In fact its not unknown that I'll see the most recent issue (Keepnews) of a cd in the same bins as the earlier now cutout issue. Even if I suspect that the Keepnews edition will be an upgrade I figure I can wait and get it cheap next year.
