I like Sal Salvador's more recent (1984) date on Stash,Plays Gerry Mulligan which features Nick Brignola and Randy Brecker. I have the lp, the cd fills out with another date which also has Brignola on it I believe.

I see Amazon sells cdr copies of many Venus titles (for 13.99). Does anyone know if you get a cover with those?

Upcoming Lucky Thompson Select tracklisting

Hey Sidewinder, why not get both? Isn't that vinyl set generally pretty cheap? I remember seeing it as a cutout for a quite awhile. That's why I have two copies myself. -
Willis Jackson on Prestige?

Thanks MG, for the info on the Gator. Glad to see "In the Alley" get a mention in boldface, this has always been a personal favorite, particularly side A. -
One piece of colored vinyl that I and most of my friends had at one time or another was Dave Mason's Alone Together. Of course at that point in my life the tt would often have a dime taped to it. I think the most cogent point made at the link above is that it is a lot harder to grade an lp visually when the vinyl is other than black.

Well, Cadence had a sale and I got mine with a 25 foot cord delivered for just a bit less than that.

Archival-quality burnables (maybe also printables) ...

I have had very good luck with Taiyo Yuden cdr's. If they were still available I would go for Kodak Gold. If you do a Google search for Taiyo Yuden you will find plenty of places that have them available. -
Can I get a download? Also, welcome to your 5th (not 4th) decade.

Hey Man with the Golden Arm, which Newbury's do you frequent? The one in Norwood?

Since this thread was started I've had the chance to grab some Bebo Valdes cd's which have been very good including Bebo Rides Again and Bebo de Cuba. I would also strongly recommend this one by JP Torres: http://www.amazon.com/Algo-Nuevo-S%C3%83%C2%BAper-Son-Todos-Hierros/dp/B000OLHFB2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1266794947&sr=1-3

From what I have read online it seems that the Grados do loosen up and sound better over time. I'm not going to leave them connected while not listening but the idea that they will break in doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

My new headphones came in this morning, just starting to listen. First impression is very positive. I have to make sure to hide these from my son!

I don't think the Red Garlamd Galaxy dates were issued on cd, at least here in the USA (I'm thinking there must have been a Japanese issue).

Allen, I see that some people who post live shows here and there are posting 16/44 and 24/96 versions. I don't really know what it all means. Do I have this right that 24/44 or 24/96 is not playable on a regular cd? As I understand it these higher resolution files would generally only be playable from your computer, do I have that right?

Thanks for looking, some mailed Friday, the rest on Monday.

Getting my first new piece of stereo equipment in many moons. I understand these headphones need to be broken in, other than just using them is there any special routine in breaking in new headphones? Also, I am getting a 25 foot cord, does the length of the cord degrade the sound?

How about Red Garland on Galaxy?

The Pittsburgh Steelers won Superbowl XL, now I think the Saints will win Superbowl XLIV.

Love Moose and Squirrel. Guitarist Clay Moore covered the Rocky and Bullwinkle theme on his 1998 release Meeting Standards.

Christiern, I think I am guilty as charged, although I did buy my son an Ipod Classic for Christmas. I am hoping to possibly get a Zune for (hopefully significantly) less money.

I think some people favor a player from Cowon which is supposed to have good sound and also supports FLAC along with many video codecs. Cons for the Cowon include the user interface and also some reviewers find the unit itself a little flimsy. I personally have never seen on except online. A lot of reviews name the mp3 players from Sony as best sounding but I am put off buy the price and they only have flash memory, the largest player from Sony here in the US market is, I think, 32 gig. From what I have read, Microsoft updates firmware for existing Zunes every time they issue an new Zune so I thought I might pick up a deal on an 80 gig Zune. I am still using mini disc (stop that snickering) so you can see I don't rush into anything.

I am considering getting a Zune mp3 player, can anyone share their experiences positive or negative? Thanks.

Just found this today. Apologies if this has been mentioned previously. http://www.blogcatalog.com/blog/casa-valdez-jazz
