  1. I doubt this will amount to the type of fight I'd like to see, and I feel bad for whichever party is in the right, and thus has to prove it... but I find this entertaining.
  2. Sonny Rollins - The Solo Album
  3. I saw this a couple days ago and assumed it was on the darker side of shady. Its pretty cheap too.
  4. good read. having seen him a few years back, although a short set, transcendent is an applicable description.
  5. Given Ornette's past pension to demand proper compensation for his work, I lean towards Ornette not authorizing this as a release. There is obviously some form of deceptive marketing by the label if you can purchase the 192/24 Studio Masters, but these were indeed impromptu/teaching sessions and not actual studio sessions. And there are handheld recorders that record in 192/24 and sound really good, which I have a feeling these probably are.
  6. Last night: Abdullah Ibrahim w/ Carlos Ward - Live at Sweet Basil vol.1 (there was never a vol.2 right?) and Jackie McLean - A Ghetto Lullaby (Inner City pressing)
  7. Sonny Criss - Crisscraft
  8. Rockbeat's James Booker release is excellent1
  9. No fees to worry about when shipping to the US.
  10. Charles Williams - Charles Williams (mainstream 1971)
  11. Onzy Matthews - Mosaic Selects
  12. two treats in store there. 'Weaving Symbolics' has a variety of line-up sizes not seen elsewhere in his discography I'm most excited about that one. It's been on my wishlist for 3 years and finally pulled the trigger. I think there are only 3-4 titles of his as leader I need now. and I'm still waiting on Synovial Joints here....patience is running thin Haha, just ordered this (the download from m-base isn't enough to feed my collector needs). Down to 3 titles now i think... Steve Coleman and Five Elements - The Ascension to Light

  14. Steve Coleman and Five Elements - Weaving Symbolics and Steve Coleman and Five Elements - On The Rising Of The 64 Paths filling out my Steve Coleman collection with a couple french imports that I finally found at decent prices. Just waiting for them to arrive now.
  15. By that logic, music should not be purchased second-hand if still available.
  16. Much better read is his downbeat interview http://www.downbeat.com/digitaledition/2015/DB1505/24-25.html
  17. I picked Alms/Tiergarten (Spree) up about a year ago and still haven't given it a proper listen. Was just thinking about it earlier after looking at this thread. May try to give it a spin tonight to report back.
  18. I had purchased the Gigi Gryce one. Sounded terrible. Got rid of it.
  19. Mat plays with Steve on Steve's Lucidarium
  20. I would classify the "vocals" as non-intrusive. The voice used as an instrument.
  21. I was stating that Pi was the one pushing the promotion of steve coleman, ie. interviews, booking Vanguard etc. generally it is the label that does the promotional push around the time an album is released. My comment was in reference to mainstream validation, which I can't imagine Steve to be seeking, but wouldn't want to speak for him.
  22. I figured this was Pi Recordings doing and not Steve's. Either way I'm a fan of his music, his system, his energy and him as a human being, from the communication I've had with him.
  23. Pretty seemless ordering through Dark Tree. Got it in about a week.
