LF: Mike Taylor Trio CD on Impressed-Repressed
jcam_44 replied to clifford_thornton's topic in Offering and Looking For...
If anyone knows where I can get a rear tray card I would appreciate it. -
This. I only wish so many of his excellent titles were on the, to me, poorly sonically presented CIMP releases.

Definitely interested in the 7"

OMG! I remember that guy. All I can say at this point, many years later, is that I meant well, musically. There are a few tracks that don't make make me cringe. I still like "Ivory Burn." And I guess it's notable that I still have the only cover version of Tristano's "Turkish Mambo," as far as I know. But, yeah, I'm cringing, at least a little bit. But I'm glad you like it. haha, I think it's an enjoyable a respectable release. A few tracks sound dated (Geomusic 4006) but for the time I understand it. King Oliver in Savannah and Falling got multiple listens. Your chops are sting thoughout. I actually bought it on a whim thinking it might be your album but really wasn't sure. Definitely money well spent.

What live music are you going to see tonight?

How was it? They were here on Sat, but as huge a fan of Tyshawn and Ron as I am the Snowy Egret album was boring to me and didn't feel inclined to go. -
Finally picked this up. Fantastic stuff!

I agree with erwbol. Pre-Clifton (although I doubt it will be) preferred.

Osby was fantastic! First time the group had played as a collective but you would have never known had Osby not announced it. Greg on alto of course, Joshua White on piano (he's a monster and honestly stole the show with each and every solo), Eric Revis on bass and the formidable Jonathan Pinson on drums. White solo'd on almost every song. Pinson had an epic solo at the end of the second set and Revis was given plenty of space to stretch out. Osby was in top form but he really let the others show out. It was a fantastic show. They did have Natalie Gooday (?) sing one song each set, which I think the crowd, myself included could have lived without, but White did solos in both standards that made them memorable. -

Disc 1 - Fragments of Music, Life and Death of Albert Ayler Powerful stuff from a recent purchase. For anyone who thinks Brotzmann is about blowing your brains out, this Die Like A Dog collective will change your mind. -
Should have the new Dave McDonnell Group - "The Time Inside A Year" on the Delmark label at my mailbox when I get home today.

First song that comes to mind is Roy Hargrove's "Strasbourg/ St. Denis" -
Love that Stooges vinyl. Always wish I have picked up the Jackson Square Brass Band cd when I was there 2 years ago. Every time I've seen them since they haven't had it.

I'd like it if still available. -

I've been listening to this almost exclusively for about a week. AMAZING stuff. I wonder how this would sound if don and sonny were mixed and not panned hard. Though the panning works. Everything is right and wrong with the music. Legal or not this release has been my favorite this year. I feel bad for sonny not getting his share, but sonny has so many recording he doesn't release for whatever reason. I like the road shows series, but prefer full shows/sets to compilations like the road shows are.

Are there any box bargains currently available?
jcam_44 replied to GA Russell's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I ordered this yesterday before seeing this post. Will be here tomorrow and can't wait. Purchased because I got a new job with a heavy commute -
Just picked up this set for a really reasonable price. Nice set, decent sound quality. Haven't had a chance to go though the booklet but its about 50 pages

Yup, Chuck was talking of the upcoming one, not of "Kampen". Great that there's so much recent/new Bradford around, guy really deserves it, as far as his playing goes (not saying he doesn't deserve it as a person, I'm not in a position to judge that, but love his playing a lot). Based on my interactions with him the times I've seen him, he deserves it more as a person than a player, and I hold him as high as any horn player out there
