  1. Saw him in a dream once, but I'm guessing that doesn't count.
  2. Like the fella said, I don't give a toss.
  3. Hope everything's okay. I started rereading Joe Haldeman's Worlds trilogy this week; I lost one of the books years ago and finally picked it up so I could do so. One of two authors I've always wanted to try but never seem to find, along with Effinger. Must admit, I never really "got" Lafferty. Maybe I should give him another chance.
  4. Going through the whole Mad Men series on DVD. Again. Up to Season Two now.
  5. Glad to have you back, Larry.
  6. A movie version of Look To Windward. (No, not really. I know it would suck.)
  7. I will no doubt be checking this out on disc. BTW, just Netflixed seasons 4-6 of House. (I'd stopped watching it on TV a while back, so this was playing catchup for me.)
  8. Bob Newhart is the best. His first show, the one from the 70's, was on through much of my teen years, and i feel it was somehow formative on my whole mental outlook.
  9. Just watched the BBC version of Wallander, series one. Now going through series two.
  10. 7 or 8 dollars a month seems more like it. Maybe even 5. But 15 just doesn't seem like it's gonna fly.
  11. If Anthony Boucher liked it, that's good enough for me.
  12. If yawning won't help, then I'm with Jim---consult a doctor.
  13. Yes, that's the thing that most surprised me about the obit.
  14. Glad you're both alright. Truly scary footage coming out of Japan. Hope the death toll is low. God, this is horrible.
  15. I'm guessing that she and Hitler didn't talk about movies much.
  16. Thing is, the few albums in this set that I don't already have in one form or another are ones I'm not that interested in anyway. (Wynton, Weather Report...) So for me there's not much point.
  17. Thanks for this post Dan. We all ran Scott off this board and we all lose. I certainly don't think he's correct all the time but as I said a while back (and offended him), he's a good generalist. What's wrong with being a good generalist?
  18. Now working my way through season 6 of House.
  19. Saw "The Adjustment Bureau" yesterday. Never read the PKD short story it was based on (at least, that I can recall) but I read somewhere that they changed and/or added a lot to the story, which I find easy to believe. Nevertheless, I rather enjoyed the film. It wasn't flawless (what is?) but it moved along nicely, and wasn't completely stupid, which puts it well above average for contemporary films. The ending was a bit weak, but it didn't totally kill what went before.
  20. I'd be willing to bet that all the e-mails are fabricated rather than sent from real, put-upon people.
  21. Now I'm curious...which one did you see?
  22. Actually, the first one elicited tears of sadness from me on behalf of poor, lost Missy. (Not.)
  23. He's got kind of a William Michael Harnett thing going on there. I agree. And I'm a book-lover from way back.
  24. Yes, isn't it though? I resisted it for a while, then gave in and became a rabid fan.
