  1. If it were up to me, I would have given the Oscar to "Toy Story 3" for Best Movie and to Fincher for Best Director. Looking down the list, I see that I actually saw 8 of the 10 Best Picture nominees this year, rather a lot for me. Don't know why.
  2. Dots, always the dots!! Those damn circles made him look like a pod person. (That's right, a cartoon pod person.)
  3. "House." More Hugh Laurie.
  4. He's great in "Undeclared" too.
  5. Next step: Digitize regular life. Go for a virtual stroll through a pleasant park just by plugging in and laying in your bed. The virtual sensory experience unspools in your brain and there's no worrying about the weather, germs, insects, or meeting unpredictable "real" people. I can't wait.
  6. Ah, love them! Not quite A Bit of Fry & Laurie, but plenty of good moments.
  7. I also liked the work of his daughter Laura and grand-daughter Veronica.
  8. The other shoe finally drops. I've been waiting for this for years now, the signs have all been there. Still, sad, because I always thought they were better than Barnes & Noble.
  9. Also, it would help if his first name wasn't "Harry." Sounds like Bart Simpson making a prank phone call.
  10. I guess they should just be glad his last name wasn't "Prik."
  11. I wasn't old enough to remember it, but old enough to walk, which makes me now feel...old. Enough.
  12. Hey, live and let live say I...but nevertheless, find it a tad strange that someone who professes to like Ellington and Basie can be down on 20's, 30's, and most 40's jazz. Wha? Basie isn't 30's? And Ellington came from Mars I suppose?
  13. The guy doesn't sound very broadminded. What has he got against the 20's, 30's, and 40's? So, what, he doesn't like New Orleans jazz, swing, or bop? WTF?
  14. Why not? Especially with 59 not being that far away. What city gets LIX? Maybe Charlie Sheen's porn "star" can be involved in the ceremonies. I can't wait for Superbowl C.
  15. I remember seeing one in a coal mine, once.
  16. Sorry to read about this. My sincere wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
  17. Ye, it's pretty amazing how popular he is. I have been spending a lot of time in Africa lately, and Kenny G is quite popular there. It is really a mystery to me. For most popular music that I don't like, I can usually understand, at least to some degree, why it is popular. Not so with Kenny G. I have absolutely no idea what people like about it. Very much the way I feel about football.
  18. I'm hoping this is just bullshit.
  19. Very saddening, terrible news. I too still have dreams of Stereo Jack's, and I left Boston 17 years ago. All my best wishes to Jack for happiness in the future, and success in whatever he chooses to do.
  20. My 5 cents, the first book is better than it gets weaker for each following effort, it's not great litterature by any means, to be quite mean you're kinda of happy there won't be a 4th volume the themes are interesting about how machist Sweden is and what really goes on there behing the cover of social-democracy , but in a way the writer makes a mess of them all. Still kudos for creating a character like Lisbeth Sallander. Wouldn't be suprised if she gets a life outside of Larsson's imagination. I found the second to be the weakest, mainly because Lisbeth is gone for a large chunk of the book. Thought things improved a bit with the third, but have to agree that the first is the best, as far as I'm concerned.
  21. Six cents was a lot of money back then.
  22. Yes, I remember seeing him in the 60's and him seeming kind of middle-aged (but of course a 27-year-old might seem middle-aged to a 4-year-old) and another thing is his show seemed like a relic of the 50's. Maybe it was repeats from the 50's that I was seeing. I had no idea, though, that he was born and raised in San Francisco.
  23. Well, thanks a lot. Now I regret going to streaming only; none of his series are available, and I never did see the second and third Connections series. They're not as good as the first. Too hurried for my taste.
  24. One of the reasons I'd rather live in a "blue state."
  25. I'm shocked both by her unexpected death, and by the fact that she was 72.
