I just bought Jerry's guitar after winning the ebay auction for the toilet seat. Now I can strum along while sitting. Pictures to follow. It's official, Jerry just rolled over in his grave.

Actually, there was one more thing, a Bear win over Green Bay! Perfect end to a weekend spent with friends and family.

The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Another good album!

I'll second the Neil Young and add Beck's "Guero" -

Available: Tuesday, December 20, 2005 Interesting, they jacked-up the pre-order price about $6 bucks since the beginning of the week (was $76.99). Merry Xmas! As much as I want this, I may have to wait for the $36.00 version which will hopefully be available in a couple of months at yourmusic.com.

BIlly Gibbons: Rock & Roll Gearhead I don't normally go for these kind of books but if you got a thing for vintage guitars and hot rods this is a must see. Seems likes Billy owns about 5 of every vintage guitar and amp under the sun. Check it out next time your in a book store.

I think they do still run it. Late Sunday night/early Monday morning.

CDUniverse has always done right by me. Hope all you guys all get "pre" pre-order price. Me, I'm just venting a little for passing that up.

Anchor Christmas Ale A nice vintage this year.

Still no release date determined over at cdUniverse. However they have determined that it will cost you the better part of $80.

Unfortunately nothing really all that good or bad happens on this record. Skip it unless your a real "Land Lover"

Seems fairly obvious to me. Even though the Dead's concert library is quite large, it is finite. Why give away what you can sell? I for one have no problem with it and am amazed their extremely liberal trading policy lasted as long as it did.

I have nothing against John Mayer. As a matter of fact I usually enjoy his guitar playing. I guess what I don't care for is the fact that the giant marketing machine behind him has been constantly bombarding us for the last two years with the fact of what a gifted player he is. He has already made enough to afford himself a very nice lifestyle. The year he hit, I remember reading that he grossed something like $23 million in record sales, concerts, and various other revenue. John needs to just "Shut up and play his guitar" and let the chips fall where the may. All that said, I'm rooting for him since he has the potential to bring many new fans to the blues or anything else for that matter.

What standard(s) do you kick ass on when playing?

I do fairly well with these lately.... Lady Bird Four Gentle Rain My Ship Groovin' High -
I have always thought that a creatively arranged medley of Idle Moments and Django would be very nice. There's probably a good reason why Django was covered on this album. P.S. I just transcribed Grant's Tune from the Solid album. It's a keeper!

Absolutely, surfing was introduced on the west coast around 1907. Duke Kahanamoku further popularized the sport with his demonstrations in the 1920's. By the early to mid-fifties surfing was well underground again, and was getting a bit of a reputation with the mainstream. Bruce Brown's Slippery When Wet also premiered in 1959, and had a big effect on the underground surf movement in California. He really hit the mark with everyone else in 1966 with the classic surf movie Endless Summer. By then surf music was pretty much dead with the general public (Beatles, Motown) but the culture in general was alive and well.

I used to play in rock/blues cover band with a guy that was a hugh Link Wray fan. He insisted on playing "Rumble" every time we gigged. We always played it towards the end of the gig because his gonzo, over the top version was 100% guaranteed to clear the room! I think Mr. Wray would have loved it. RIP Link.
