  4. I'm afraid that I do not have any more info than what is in the message. What I quoted is exactly what was sent to me.
  5. This is what I got back from Mosaic about the Ahmad Jamal and Lucky Thompson sets: "We are still in the midst of tape research. Hopefully if all goes well sometime early next year for both releases."
  6. Anyone know of what is forthcoming from Mosaic?
  7. If you know of good places to go to in London and Paris to buy some avant garde jazz CDs, please attach a post here. In Paris, I am especially eager to get some In Situ CDs that seem to be sadly out of print now. Thanks in advance.
  8. Full title: Michel Doneda, Daunik Lazro, & Le Quan Ninh, "26 Janvier 1988 Vandouvre-Les-Nancy" (In Situ 037) Does anyone have a copy of this in excellent condition (both CD & inserts)? Any lead would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  11. I would like to find a good home for my set of Fremeaux’s definitive Integrale Django Reinhardt collection. Mastered by Daniel Nevers, there are 20 volumes of these, and each volume has 2 CDs -- 40 CDs total. Each volume also comes with a fairly thick booklet with discography and notes. And the booklets and inserts have very nice B&W pictures of Django. Here is the link to the Django page at Fremeaux’s site: http://www.fremeaux.com/index.php?option=c...mp;limitstart=0 And here is the link to Amazon’s listing of these volumes: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw_0_10?...efix=integrale+ All of the volumes I have are in like-new condition, and I have retained even the little Fremeaux advertisements that come with each of the volumes. I believe that some of the volumes are out-of-print now. I am not sure how much to ask for these. If you are interested, please send me a message, and perhaps we can come to an agreement.

  15. I highly recommend: Die Enttauschung (Intakt) A very snappy quartet with Rudi Mahall and Axel Doerner, two of the most interesting musicians around. The group, in my opinion, sounds better without Alexander von Schlippenbach with them. They are freer and more irreverant.

  17. I highly recommend the Lee/Christy. I got this set mainly for Peggy Lee's small group tracks, and they are very very nice. I myself can't listen to them continuously. But I've copied a couple of CDs onto my iTunes and iPod, and when a song of hers comes on, it is quite something. I feel the same way about Derek Bailey's solo recordings -- I can't sit through many of them continuously; but like them one by one mixed in with other recordings. You might think that Peggy Lee and Derek Bailey are an unusual pair. But supposedly, Bailey really admired Dave Barbour, who plays throughout these Peggy Lee tracks.

  22. I've been consistently impressed with the releases on this label. The latest that I've purchased are Guillermo Gregorio's "The Chicago Approach" and Achim Kaufmann's "Starmelodics". Both are adventurous and thoughtful improvised "chamber music" in the best sense of that term. This is the kind of music that Jimmy Giuffre would have made if he had come of age in the last 10 years. And I cannot help thinking that Nuscope recordings are what ECM recordings should be like -- if Manfred Eicher had better tastes.
  23. Bol

    Blue Note

My sentiments exactly. You know, Google can be used to find most album covers. And you can stare at them to your heart's content.
  24. Bol

    Blue Note

Circle material with Corea, Braxton, Holland, and Altschul. Would be nice to have that along with the Braxton Mosaic. And I second the call for more early BN stuff -- esp. Hodes & Vic Dickenson.
