Morals, politics, crime and music
andybleaden replied to The Magnificent Goldberg's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Having read this it reminds me of several arguments I have had about peoples bad behavior and 'excuses' when I used to work with offenders. Sure enough there are reasons why people do things that are bad. We can judge those reasons and choose to accept or reject them. -

Plus the fact you on get three spark plugs that fit..one you have to bash down to fit it in and then it breaks and so you think...nah eff it...it will still work Actually I do like ikea to be fair and have always liked their poang chairs hoping other members of my family would buy me one....pleeeeeeeaseeeeee -
I have been testing the test version for a while now and I am quite impressed but I alway have been with firefox. I have had it now for years as I hate IE( have to use it sometimes at work when the suits are watching as we are not supposed to install it. IE has always been difficult to use , full of problems, no tab browsing, pop up hell and just so clunky. Mozilla need a pat on the back for this. The linux version which I use is really really good and better even than the windows on I use at work

yip yipity yip....a nice clean copy of the wilson and the other rarities for me....I had given up on buying any more reissues. I have heritage on a japanese issue but would strongly recommend it to others...as I would with most of these...save maybe the 3 sounds which never grabbed me when I bought them on LP....sold them again pretty quickly afterwards if I remember

I really liked his tune Ode to Life which is one of my favourite piano tracks of all time
-
Now that would be a lovely box...imagine ( although I have all of them already!) all the extra notes /photos..really different music from session to session...not going to happen I would guess...I have some of the bootleg stuff with these two from 69 -70 and they were really cooking. Got the japanese copy of the Peacemaker after long searching.....well worth the wait

A real shame as he made some cracking recordings. My favourites were the Prestige numbers Shame

Keith Jarrett minus the "vocalizations"?
andybleaden replied to mikelz777's topic in Recommendations
do not notice it any more....after i watched play on tv once from back in the 70's and 80'syou can see when and where he is making 'noises'... When i listened to the tracks on cd...they noises seemed to blend in with what he plays and the way he plays it.....the guy does not sit still and strains throughout ...not the only one ..either Admission of the week is that sometimes I hum along with him as I listen .... -
I was lucky enough to hear him play near where I live - twice Better than all of that for me was getting a chance to play with him after the gig which was a real treat. He was just keen to have a youngster sit in and have a ball. Really nice guy too

Why did the chicken cross the road
andybleaden replied to Christiern's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
David Cameron : 'We let the chicken cycle across the road because it is a greener thing to do. I will not comment about the chauffeur driven Lexus that drove behind the chicken with it's packed lunch and papers.' http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4953922.stm -

Been reading this on and off now for 2 days and find it a good read. Could have used some of the internet based anecdotes about Hank with more gusto I think especially around the latter part of his career. Seen much of that on here especially with relation to the last years/the Blue Note concert etcetc However it is a very very interesting read I must say and one which I intend to finish soon

So how else should I have shouted it downstairs without upsetting the family.................'Come up here you guys and see this guy playing with his balls!'
-
But there were still some gems..already mentioned and some not which are still worth a listen. I take your point but who else was still keeping the message alive and selling?

I note some of these collections are not polished...tut tut! Outragious Get yer marigolds out and give them shelves a dustin!

Hindsight is a wonderful tool. What else could he/they have done at the time? I for one wish he was not credited with the demise of Blue Note and it's jazz content.....could it have been any different considering what was going on at the time?
