Why did the chicken cross the road
andybleaden replied to Christiern's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
David Cameron : 'We let the chicken cycle across the road because it is a greener thing to do. I will not comment about the chauffeur driven Lexus that drove behind the chicken with it's packed lunch and papers.' http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4953922.stm -

Been reading this on and off now for 2 days and find it a good read. Could have used some of the internet based anecdotes about Hank with more gusto I think especially around the latter part of his career. Seen much of that on here especially with relation to the last years/the Blue Note concert etcetc However it is a very very interesting read I must say and one which I intend to finish soon

So how else should I have shouted it downstairs without upsetting the family.................'Come up here you guys and see this guy playing with his balls!'
-
But there were still some gems..already mentioned and some not which are still worth a listen. I take your point but who else was still keeping the message alive and selling?

I note some of these collections are not polished...tut tut! Outragious Get yer marigolds out and give them shelves a dustin!

Hindsight is a wonderful tool. What else could he/they have done at the time? I for one wish he was not credited with the demise of Blue Note and it's jazz content.....could it have been any different considering what was going on at the time?

The UK Ministry of Defence refused to comment on whether they were thinking of buying up spares of the 1946 model saying that they still prefer to use the ones from the First World War (ie none) -

No Country for Old Men-The Coen Brothers film
andybleaden replied to HolyStitt's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
This a Coen bothers film---of COURSE the joke's on the viewer. I agree: When Moss is taken out, off-camera, it's a huge cheat. The rest of the film was pretty much crap, excepting perhaps the confrontation between Anton and Moss's wife. I know that some people will scream that that's the way the novel goes, but since I never read the novel (and now never intend to) I can only judge it as a movie, and frankly any movie based on a novel has to stand or fall by how it functions as a movie. And one conclusion I've reached about the Coens long ago is that they are incapable of simply making a "good movie"---they can't help playing silly, self-referential, post-modern games. Fucking around, in other words. But they've got two-thirds of a good movie here, which is really great for them. Now I saw this the other evening on my own Liked it in general Bit violent for my liking but that comes with the territory I guess I did like the way in which one of the main characters was killed off screen..that was different..... The ending was messed up really for me but again that is my problem I suppose...too much conversation -
Have both and they are truly really nice records and were a surprising find during a Blue Note drought

It would not take up too much room even if they are pdf files (should not at least) If you download all the piccies at gokudo ...they are not that big are they?...Mind you it is not so much effort to go there directly I guess. On the earlier point I have the 2nd version of the discography which is excellent.I would have love an electronic version though but pdf version....hmmm....cannot add notes etc...hmmm

Disagree What is more important for me is that she was the first thing with Blue Note on it that I bought both for my Mum! and me She never got in to my taste in Jackie McLean and Grachan Moncur III at the time -
