  1. Actually, it's worth more that way. After posting so many birthday wishes over the years, it's good to see that someone appreciates them.
  2. Ordered mine about a couple weeks ago and the set just arrived. Whoever doesn't take advantage of this deal is nuts!
  3. Gatti was a lesser champion in that he was beaten quite often, and took great punishment even in his wins. He hardly goes down as a great champion, but at the same time, he gave his all in every fight, and always showed courage. Definitely was a fan favorite, though my preference was always for more skilled fighters.
  4. Nice to see Kasparov return to chess even if it involves a few rapid and blitz games. Poor Karpov is a shell of what he used to be, but we have to be happy to see these two go at it again.
  5. This won't make a Coors Light commercial because they use only retired coaches, but here's a spoof using a Bill Belichick press conference. http://www.petesbits.com/music/da341c5269a...82646469328.mp3
  6. He was one of the top qbs in the league during his playing years and a real warrior. Very sad news.
  7. At the same time, whenever I look at replays of the fight, it seems that Aaron was destined to win either way. He was simply too strong and unorthodox. His special brand of ring chaos was the perfect foil for Arguello's classic style. Pryor was a beast in the amateurs. He easily defeated Tommy Hearns and had him close to being knocked out. If Pryor was just a few pounds bigger, he would have had some mighty wars with Sugar Ray Leonard and Tommy Hearns. Pryor, Arguello, Leonard, Hearns...boy that was the era! All were great fighters.
  8. Alexis Arguello, the "exlposive thin man" was one of my boxing heros as a young man. That first fight with Pryor was a war, and arguably could have been won by Alexis if convicted-cheater Panama Lewis hadn't given Pryor a swig from a suspicious bottle mix between one of the later rounds. The second fight was all Aaron Pryor, also one of the greatest fighters of his era. Alexis had moved up four times in weight and simply couldn't match the firepower of the bigger man. But he landed his shots too. One of his patented right hands had Pryors head gyrating. I believe those fights did much to confirm the greatness of Pryor as they did Arguello. Alexis was unstoppable at junior lightweight and lightweight. Wonder if his death was really a result of suicide.
  9. That's what makes this place hum, though. It's good for all of us if there are incentives to check in at frequent levels.
  10. Price reduction to $8.00 with shipping covered. No love for Lalo?
  11. played only a couple of times. Verve Originals digipack $9 total w/ shipping to US address.
  12. Who comes off looking worst here--liberal white intellectuals, black wannabees, or hip hop culture? Seems they all get slimed, but it's funny as Hell!
  13. Some people stuffed all their money into Madoff's mattress.
