Congrats Pete. Sounds like a real achievement. -
I like Ridgeway in Canada; also whatever Tim Horton's uses.

Only six cups! You lily-livered colonial. I bet you don't warm the pot either! Well...I mean 6+ mugs. My mother berates me for not using bone china cups, but they're too small for me. Damn right, I heat the pot... Which brings up another point for us tea drinkers here. American restaurants don't seem to realize that it is critical to pour boiling water on tea. If the water is just merely hot, the taste is absolutely ruined. If you don't believe me, just try it yourself. Try tea made from boiling water; and tea made from hot water. In a restaurant here you get this little metal pouring receptical with warm water and your teabag is at the side of the cup. My response: I simply don't order tea at restaurants. Now when I cross the border up to Canada, the whole situation changes. They understand tea up there.

I lived in England when my Dad was in the Air Force during the last three years of the 1970s. I was 14 years old when we returned to the United States in 1980. Ever since my time spent in England I must have milk in my hot tea. Milk in tea is a MUST!! In Jamaica we didn't have fresh milk available all the time (didn't last long in the heat and slowness of donkey transport) so we used evaporated milk. To this day I still use evaporated milk in my tea. Don't know how unhealthy that might be for me. Might be killing me for all I know.

A bit of help for AAJ

Frankly, I don't care what happens to AAJ. I do agree that Mike is a good fellow, but I've already got my home here. I don't know what all the fuss is as I haven't been on that board for ages, but I'll go check it out. I've always found Deep's posts to be highly entertaining and sometimes amazingly articulate. I do hope he comes over here one day. In fact, I invited him over here once a few months ago. Downside is that he seems to declare open enmity with others. I do remember him going after Chuck, when Chuck wasn't baiting him in any way. If he does come over here, I'm sure other posters would jump on him if he attacked others without provocation. I know I would. No need to fear AAJ dissidents showing up here. We've got a strong enough core that we would be able to civilize em. I think out board personality is overwhelmingly strong. After all is said or done, amicability and civility would prevail here. -
Brownies should beat the reeling Steelers. Upset pick of the week: Bills over Indianapolis.

I've never finished a cup of coffee in my life either. Owing to my British background, I'm a heavy tea drinker. I consume around 6 cups a day. Never felt the need to get hooked on coffee.

The Irrational Atheist?
connoisseur series500 replied to Alexander's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Thanks for posting the article, Alex. It's kind of funny to see how some religious zealots view atheists. I guess there is just no explanation for our existence in their limited pantheon. They just don't understand HOW we can exist without being screwed up, emotionally and morally. -
Thanksgiving plans?

Thanksgiving plans?

Staying at home and eating Turkey with my two sisters. Could be at my house; could be at theirs; haven't decided yet. I handle the stereo and adopt a totalitarian approach as far as music selections. We'll play some games; I like the NFL, but might now watch it as my sisters don't get into it. We have fun; and old Conn will get up there and try to rekindle all the dance moves. -
Michigan vs Ohio State
connoisseur series500 replied to Soulstation1's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
People in Toledo are split regarding their fan loyalty to either school. The majority probably roots for Ohio State, but Michigan has its share of fans as well. I'm one of the few football fans who doesn't care very much. I am not a big college football fan. I love the NFL. My pick is Michigan. Ohio State has been struggling a bit, and Michigan has the home edge (which is often meaningless for this big game.) -
Kennedy Assasination Poll

I believe Oswald had taken orders from someone on this board. :rsmile: (Just kidding, of course.) I don't know enough about the conspiracy theories. Since with all the research and scrutiny nothing else has defnitively been found then I can only assume that Oswald did it solo. -

There's a chance; there's a chance. This is not a football thread, but I've got my NFL upset pick of the week already selected: Bills will defeat the Colts. -
Life before children

A sorry waste of brain cells, AB. You could be using those valuable cells to memorize Shakespeare or Old Testament Psalms, or Christ's Sermon on the Mount, or the complete chronology of US presidents from Washington to Dubya or better yet.... The complete unabridged Blue Note catalog. -

Enjoyed your post, Jim. Well said. -
Rooster, This case might be interesting for several reasons. For one thing, Mr. Jackson is a strange animal given his unique lifestyle and circumstances. It is somewhat interesting to see the potential degradation of a human being resulting from excess of wealth and power. It is also interesting to see how big money might/will rescue him from this predicament. If so, it would be more proof that money runs the legal system. It sheds light on the parents of the kids and how their potential hunger for money allows them to overlook certain aspects of Mr. Jackson's behavior. In other words, it's a human story. I won't be following it closely, but I will read the updates as their presented.

And their parents ring the doorbell the next morning at 8:30 and politely ask you what time they went to bed. I'm in my jammies and my hair looks like it was done by an alien, and I'm trying to come off as halfway responsible as I reply, "you really don't want to know." -

hehe, Brad. Soooo True. They should be called wakovers. -
As someone who doesn't own a cd burner and is, therefore, unlikely to produce a blindfold disc, the nomination process is not important to me. Right now, I'm just a beneficiary of some blindfold music. It should be pointed out that those sign the list be aware that the number of people who wish to participate and listen to their discs is a large one and probably growing. I only listen and do not create these discs, but I promise always to post my guesses and thoughts. It's the least I can do. :rsmile:

Yes, I can remember my life before my son was born 11 years ago. I had an exciting life then, but prefer mine now.
