Flipping A House

This kind of crap turned me off while watching the shows. It blows me away how they were able to attract people to purchase the "fixed up" home who knew the condition of the home prior. These guys haggle down any contractor in order to preserve their high margins. At the same time, you can bet that the so-called repair work is second rate as the contractors were chiseled down unmercifully. I don't want anything to do with a "fixed up" home! -

Must be tough to be a Raven's fan right now. They've lost 3 offensive linemen, if you include Jonathan Ogden's likely retirement (or did he announce it yet?) Then they've lost Adalius Thomas and Ray Lewis' backup is expected to be signed by someone in the next few weeks. In the meantime, the 49ers have really improved on defence by signing Nate Clements and one of the FA safeties (name escapes me right now.) With their young offense, this is a team to keep your eyes on. Steelers are in rebuild mode. They've lost some coaches and a couple of o-linemen. Joey Porter will be missed. Denver has had some nice acquisitions in the offseason. SD has lost some linemen as well. Rivers may have to run a little more this year. -

They're also about to sign TE Kyle Brady to take over blocking duties from the departed Dan Graham; while Ben Watson and Dave Thomas will catch all the passes. RB Sammy Morris is also expected to sign. He will replace Corey Dillon on short yardage. Two first round picks in the draft along with a likely handful of compensatory picks from departed 2006 free agents, so they'll be a lot of depth building through the draft. Rumors have it that the Pats are going after a Free Agent wide receiver as well. We gonna be favored dogs next year! -

Traveling to Vietnam
connoisseur series500 replied to Peter Johnson's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I've been to Vietnam three times but the last was in 1986, so I don't know how helpful I might be. Halong Bay is a must-see. You will drive part of the way by car and you will have to go on at least two ferries. It's friggin' out of the way. I think you get on the first ferry in Haiphong, which was heavily targetted by US bombers during the war. The hotel I stayed in was crap. It was an old French thing where the infrastructure had declined and was not maintained. We didn't even have running water. I hope the hotels have improved since then, and I'm sure they have. In Hanoi, visit Ho Chi Minh's tomb and his "house and grounds." There are a few museums there as well. You can see the memorial of McCain which stands by the lake where he fighter/bomber plane was shot down. In the South, I liked going to Bien Hoa, where the US used to have a base. You can visit the towns along the Mekhong Delta. I never went to Dalat, but it's supposed to be a pretty place. Hue would be awesome to see. Somehow I missed going there during my three trips. Saigon is fascinating, much more so than Hanoi. I'd spend some serious time there. Hope that helps! -
