  1. No more so than Floridians. You've got that right. And now they the right to kill you if they feel their life is in danger. Awesome. Cram millions of people together in a small state full of mind numbing heat and humidity (not to mention it's the road rage capital of the world), arm 'em to the teeth, and tell 'em they have a right to kill one another. Dolon on Florida!
  2. No more so than Floridians. Dan, sometimes it's best to shut the fuck up.
  3. Who is Brian Ferry? Brownie, don't you ever read any news that's important?
  4. For the record, I do not own a gun but have often considered it. Each time, I've rejected the idea. The main problem is that if I used a gun for protection, I might end up killing someone. That would be like killing myself. I'd imagine that it would be very difficult to overcome such an action. No one wins in that transaction, baby. Neither the dead person nor the alive and "protected" person.
  5. No, because I didn't get a chance to pipe in yet. Guns should be outlawed. It would take a long time to empty the streets of them, and it wouldn't entirely stop killings, but it would help an awful lot. It would help prevent murders of policemen. It would likely reduce the numbers of dead in these mass killings. I don't understand the "right" to own a gun--especially a handgun. Handguns aren't designed to shoot bears. They are meant for human targets. I don't buy the "I need a gun for self defence" argument. If someone comes into my house at night, he'd find his head on the wrong side of a Louisville slugger. If he's got a gun, then I'm cooked. If handguns are outlawed then my Louisville slugger would do just fine. Fuck guns! I remain deeply depressed and disturbed by these senseless killings. Sadly, it seems that a major tragedy like this has to occur before any decent sensible reform gains any traction. We've got to do something about this.
  6. I don't mind Ken Burns' stuff that much, though I find his "history" too often narrowly focused. I don't know...there's worse junk on the tube. Burns is pretty much always focused on African-American history, so you live and die by that standard. Latinos want to be represented as well. American history is more than just African-American history. Perhaps he feels that African-American history has been underrepresented. Hard to argue against that point. I'll give an example: The Battle of Lake Erie where Perry managed to defeat Barclay's squadron even after being forced to leave his own flagship after it suffered close to 80% casualties stands as one of the more celebrated historical events in NW Ohio. Yet how many people know that roughly 25% of Perry's men were blacks? It's not arcane history either. You can read about it in Samuel Elliot Morison's book, "Old Bruin," which was published in 1967.
  7. If I were Pacman, I'd decide not to meet the Commissioner next time he invites me for lunch! He must feel as if he were manipulated. The guy invites him over to discuss the issues and get a feel for where he's at then slams him. Pacman comes out of the meeting and says it went well. On balance, I think I support the issue. Still, I don't think it was cool the way it was done. Maybe The Commish had to meet Pacman first in order to forestall likely protests or appeals from the Players Commission.
  8. "You gonna wish you had a block of ice where you gonna be going."
  9. That "man" was GW Bush! Bet you paid more during the Clinton years. (Inside joke between me and SS1) No politics here....
  10. I'll post some of my favorites soon for those just checking out the site.
  11. Thanks! I'm keeping you busy, but the link for Kee-Ka-Roo is out as well.
  12. Thanks Zeca! Great album. Unfortunately, "Colors" is out too.
  13. I guess I didn't see enough of the tournament. The dude is a competitor for sure. I don't know. I'm sure he's likely to think back and not feel proud of any of those actions. He'll realize he's human at some point. We all do.
  14. I saw half of the final round. Nothing appeared extraordinary. Could you please clarify?
  15. Couple of Walter Wadanderley cds on verve cannot be downloaded. One is Batacuda; the other is Kee-Ka-Roo. Lots of other good stuff.
  16. Yes, but it's a good deal. Tons of music. People basically have to buy the premium plan twice--once for the recently added stuff and once to download the stuff in the archives. I still think it's all worth it. CDs cost a hell of a lot more.
  17. The muisic transfers over very nicely. There are some glitches however. Some songs get cut before they end, and Raul de Souza's "A vontade Mesno" doesn't download. Bummer..... I highly recommend this site to anyone. The music is wonderful. Any way you can check on that Raul de Souza download Mr. Parrot?
  18. I just signed on. The music selection is excellent, but the downloading takes forever. I'll be downloading for years.
  19. He was one of those great small-school coaches whose influence went way beyond his surroundings. Great coach and important to all involved in football.
  20. Who, Rodney? "Assassin?" Huh? Go get em' Rodney!
