My condolences. I had my cat for 16 years...from the time I was in 4th grade right up until when I purchased my first home 4 years ago. I still miss her a lot.

I'm reading Dan Brown's "Angels & Demons". I've read nothing but intense books and "literature" this year, and just need a break. This one seems to be fitting the bill: light reading, entertaining story, and doesn't really require thought.

Not only Champions League, but Liverpool could pretty much be out of any chances of winning the League if they lose to Manchester United tomorrow. Should be quite the intense match. Meanwhile, Aston Villa played like shit today against Wolves. I thought they'd be brimming with confidence after beating Chelsea last week, but they seem to be having problems against the smaller clubs this season. They were lucky to escape with a point today, given the way they played.

That sucks.

So today's big news is that there's already a deal in progress to bring Robinho plus some cash over to Barcelona in exchange for a couple of Barca's superstars (Henry, Abidal and Puyol are names getting kicked around). I admire Robinho's abilities but he seems to be a handful. He left Real Madrid on bad terms and may do the same with Man City. I think his ego needs a bit of a check.

A solid, entertaining match of English football when all is said and done. Both teams did well. I'm happy with the 1 point.

Pretty entertaining first half! Dunne is having an excellent match...defending wonderfully as well as getting that big goal. Villa is defending well as a whole, and it doesn't hurt that Tevez's game looks a little off today. And not surprisingly, Gareth Barry is getting the abuse laid on pretty thick by the Villa fans. I have mixed feelings about the whole thing...yes, I can see why the fans are upset that he went to Man City rather than Liverpool or another established Champions League club. But at the same time, its hard for me to hate someone who gave 10 years of top notch service to the club. I don't think he deserves all those boos.

There's also a 2 disc version of this Jazz Standard material that may be a bit more realistic for the non-fanatical fan. All the songs on it had never appeared previously on any studio releases. I really enjoy this one.

Big game for Aston Villa today as they host Man City. It should be a good one.

Barcelona looked frustrated yesterday too against Almeria. Aside from Pedro's amazing goal, they really didn't do anything good.

That Bolton/Tottenham match yesterday was a thriller! I was really impressed by Bolton...that Tamir Cohen is a good player.

I didn't know that they lost the rights to Ran! Luckily I got that one about 4 years ago the day it came out. Criterion did a great job with it. And from a personal standpoint, after seeing that 2 disc version of Seven Samurai, I'd be worried if they decide to compress it to one. The two disc edition was absolutely beautiful....one of the best restorations of a film I've ever seen on DVD.

I don't even like Hank Mobley, but somehow I ended up with 7 of his albums as a leader.
