  1. Thanks Chrome. I have read reviews and am somewhat familiar with the plot...it sounds really interesting.
  2. Hi everyone, As I've been discovering classic foreign films over the past couple years, I've been purchasing Criterion Collection DVDs without ever having seen the films. Needless to say, I've rarely been disappointed. The next batch I'm eyeing, however, I've heard very little about, and was wondering if any of you could give me some advice on whether I should take the plunge without seeing them first. The films on the radar are: Stray Dog Eyes Without a Face Bande a Part (Band of Outsiders) Slacker Peeping Tom M The Wages of Fear The Vanishing Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

    Fly

A couple of threads on these guys here: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...pic=7467&hl=fly http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...ic=10136&hl=fly The album is really good. One of my favs of 2004. I hope to see them live some day.
  4. That's a great performance.
  5. Picked up 3 Mosaic Selects: Dexter Gordon Don Pullen Dizzy Reece
  6. Grachan Moncur Select - Disc 3. The Hipnosis session. Hot!
  7. There's nothing like some tounge tacos from the south side with onion, cilantro, and some lime!
  8. Alot of the smaller labels still use liner notes. I know Criss Cross, for example, has notes for every release they put out.
  9. Me like very much.
  10. ejp626, can you come out this week? I'll be with sheldonm at the Sunday matinee. Anyone else within driving distance from Chicago is invited as well! It would be great to meet more board members.
  11. Relax. If you take the time to read the musician's forum, cooltrane took the time to introduce himself to our community. He's not a troll.
  12. The Trane sets on your list (Atlantic, Impulse quartet, Village Vanguard) are all sure things. Along with the Miles Columbia sets, they are my favorites...even more than my Mosaics. Might I suggest the "Live Trane: The European Tours" box set from Fantasy. Seven CDs of peak live John Coltrane Quartet...some of the songs have Eric Dolphy as well.

    Herbie Hancock

What Noj said, and don't forget "Maiden Voyage", which may be his best album ever. "Takin' Off" and "Speak Like a Child" are also great. Then there's all those Blue Notes where he was a sideman, his work with Miles......
  14. I know what you are talking about. I was contracting in the Loop for a few months, and the few times I went to Fields on my lunch, I'd hear jazz. I remember one time they played like four Monk tunes in a row!
  15. Been stuck at work late all week, and really wanted to catch that show, but couldn't do it.
  16. ejp626 ??
  17. See discussion on this film here... http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...902&hl=sideways A great film, by the way. One of the best of the year.
  18. Not sure if this information is being asked for, but the upgrade of "Live at the Village Vanguard" is a substantial improvement.
  19. I second this. Its one of my favorite box sets.....an absolute can't-miss.
  20. I love seeing these guys at the Green Mill. They are really something special. I'm looking forward to picking up the album.
