  1. I agree. As far as I'm concerned, these agencies should no longer exist. Until they are replaced, the idea of confidence in the market is a joke. Or we could just count on the short memory of investors, I guess.

  3. I was going to try this thing tonight. It said at the bottom of the page that a couple of people were there, so I clicked on the link to give it a shot. Unfortunately, it took so long to load with this computer and dial-up connection that by the time I got there the place was deserted. Is there any way to fix it so that people can't tell I'm on my way?
  4. Damn. At 2:30 AM, all I can do is play dead. Forget practicing 'roll over' or 'fetch'.
  5. Mnytime, is that you???
  6. Sorry, not much of a Jack Valenti fan...

  9. Damn, I miss the days when musicians had real names. Shut up and get off my lawn!
  10. ...is the once enjoyable but now boringly predictable practice of following "Heartbreaker" with "Living Loving Maid" actually written into a DJ's contract, or can I blame the individual DJ for carrying on this unbelievably obvious act?
  11. Bullshit. Five days after unions disappear, they'll be needed again. Today's UAW? I doubt it. Obviously, if unions disappear, that would include today's UAW. But a new union would soon arise, because you can bet your ass the rollback that some would love to see wouldn't stop at just eliminateing unions, but getting rid of nasty things the unions brought, like the 40 hour week, those unfair child labor laws, etc. Though I'm sure the same people who championed the great idea of unregulated financial markets would pooh-pooh my concerns as unrealistic and paranoid, but we've seen what the world looks like without unions, and in a capitalist society, it looks strangely similar to slavery.
  12. I played football through junior high. Unfortunately, my 5'9'' heighth in the seventh grade was not a stop on the way, but my final destination. Not much call for midget linemen who aren't that fast anyway... I lettered in tennis (not exactly a high-glory sport in those days!), playing my junior and senior year, the first years our school had a team. Looking back, I'd say my sucess in the sport was due more to the fact that tennis was just arriving as a known sport to the masses here rather than any ability on my part. I can relate to a degree. The one sport I enjoy watching is hockey, one I never played. I used to enjoy watching football, spending most of Sunday watching the two games that were broadcast back then. Once I quite playing the game (not just organized, but at all, after college), it seemed like the most retarded activity imaginable. I'll say this about organized sports: the adults in charge seemed to be having a lot more fun than we were. Most of my good memories about sports involve pick up games rather than any of the organized crap.

  14. Hopefully, I'll be heading that way myself eventually. I have no interest in staying here in Eastern Oregon. Apparently most people feel the same, seeing how deserted this area is.
  15. One more winter here and I'll be ready to convert...
  16. I knew it! I told people when I worked at Target that if we put hot, steaming dog turds on the shelf and a sign that said "90% off", they'd fly off the shelves...
  17. I'll confess that's one title that never made any sense to me. Must be some PETA singalong about paint...
  18. 'cept Plant isn't a "major rock guitarist"... Then who is?
  19. I just moved here in January, so I haven't seen a complete one yet, but I wouldn't call them mild. Last winter was my first experience driving in snow and I'm not looking forward to furthering my education... It was in the twenties last night, but clear. There's been a bit of snow on the surrounding mountains, but not here in the valley yet. Of course, hopefully you're thinking of the Portland area, or along the coast rather than here in the middle of nowhere; different weather patterns there, I'm sure.
  20. It's hard to take this game seriously anymore when you live in a state that cheers on "ducks" and "beavers".
  21. I pulled out Turkel's Hard Times, not only because of his passing, but because I'm beginning to think I might need to learn from it!
  22. Well, at least he can't do any more damage...
  23. I'll bet everyone in the world has heard that before except me...

  25. I'll give you 95.
