While I don't have all the various 'books' yet, I'm too far along to go for the complete set. Still need (of all things!) the Ellington and one other. Can't remember which, as most of my CDs are already packed away for the move.

I agree completely. I guess I'm just whining about the relative ignorance of jazz rather than anything to do with Ken.

Contact Chuck about the Live in WELS & Chicago disk; it's a winner! And since it would be silly to just order one, why not throw in the Territory Band's Map Theory and maybe the FME Underground disc... I'm the wrong one to ask, though; I'd say grab as many as you can! (And the 12 disc Alchemia set is incredible!!)

Well....yeah! In the grand scheme of music in the United States, I'd say he's pretty neglected. I understand your comment; there are tons of musicians who get a hell of a lot less recognition than Vandermark, but ask a thousand random people if they've heard of him, and you'd have to get pretty lucky to hear a "yes".
