can someone explain this ebay mystery to me???
Jazzmoose replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Here's your answer: your competitor has thrown an extra dollar at the auction, thinking this will be enough to win. In each auction , he has bid $2.99. Now, the two auctions that you bid $3.23 on, of course, you are now the high bidder, as you have passed his high bid. Same with the other one, because his actual bid was still at the minimum ($1.99) until you raised it. Since you increased his "current bid" of $1.99 AND bid more than his "top bid" of $2.99, you now have the lead. HOWEVER, while your bid would have raised an actual bid of $1.99 to only $2.24, you have to beat his "top bid", not just his current bid. You do NOT have to beat his top bid by the minimum raise (25 cents in this case), because that is not yet his ACTUAL bid. Is this making any sense at all? Believe it or not, I actually understand what happened, but this explanation is giving me a headache... -
Okay, you! That's enough of that!!

I hear you. Gray's disappearance occured pretty close to the time that my depression decided that "melancholy" wasn't enough and "suicidal" was more appropriate. Fortunately, I sought help and it looks like my current medication is doing the trick. From what I understand, Gray never found the right medication with many, many attempts. I can't imagine what it would be like to live with this condition longterm without finding the right treatment. I mean, you know it's the disease causing those thoughts, but still...after a while, the struggle would just be too much. I've got to tell you, reading about Gray's plight before my doctor and I got this under control really shook me. I've always been somewhat bothered by the phrase "rest in peace", but in this case, it does seem appropriate.

I'm two years older than you, 714, and my eyesight is fine. What good would computer gasses do anyway? And what is rachel talking about; what does "earsighted" mean? And why is the print on this website smaller than it used to be? I don't understand any of this...

FS: Davis/Davis/Hutcherson
Jazzmoose replied to Peter Johnson's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Jeez, dude; not while he's trying to sell it! -
Well, I don't know--I read JUNKY, and it didn't really scare me, but it gave me the "feel" of heroin addiction enough to douse any curiousity that I had about it. That was one drug I never messed around with. I steered clear of that one myself. Although, having had legal, prescribed opiates at one point in the past, I can certainly understand the attraction. Feels great, and everything's right with the world. At least ciggies had the plus side of making me cough and feel like shit...

The Hutch sounds great, Peter, but between the mortage, the bills, and Chuck's sale, I'm flatter than a 50 cent pancake... -
Whew! Hey, it's not easy dancing on a table with a lampshade on each antler...

At the time, my favorites were (in chronological order) Batman, Daredevil, X-Men, and as I approached the end of high school, an obscure Charlton character, E-Man. But looking back, I'd have to say my favorite comics of my childhood period (at least from my nostalgic adult view) are the incredibly silly silver age Superman (along with Jimmy, Lois, etc.) and the incomparably fantastic Sugar and Spike. Sheldon Mayer's various works were definitely the last to go of my collection when it was finally ended about ten years ago...

Look, about that hoof print...oh, never mind.

Yeah man, that was awesome. Hey, you know what shirt this is? Damn you, Jim; I don't remember the next line!

Twilight Zone (1958-1964 original series)
Jazzmoose replied to connoisseur series500's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
One problem I have with memory, is I'm sure some of the Zone episodes I remember may well have been Outer Limits episodes instead; I'm just not sure... Anyone remember the one about the diner with the little fortune teller boxes at the booths? Man... There was another one (and this is one that may have been an Outer Limits; I just don't know...I was pretty young back then!) in which a strange man offered someone something, I don't know, a million bucks or something, and all they had to do was push a button on a box. If they pushed the button, someone they didn't know and had never met would die. The guy finally gives in to temptation and pushes the button. Then he's informed that it's time for the next person to get the choice. And if they push the button, he's the one who dies... -

Twilight Zone (1958-1964 original series)

I don't know if it's appropriate to call it the best television series of all time, but for the life of me, I can't think of any off hand that I've seen better. This is a tough series to discuss on a bulletin board; as Dan says, there are just too many great episodes. In person, we could trigger one memory after another and have a blast; this online thing is just too slow for this! Paul, I'd love to get this series. I had a few of the VHS ones, and the thing that struck me was how beautiful the filming was. It was almost like a live show in quality. Made most TV shows looked like canned crap. You'll see what I mean when you view it! It's so lifelike, you feel like you can reach right into the set... -
Oh, my goodness; this really is going too far!

With apologies to those of you posting here, this thread just proves to me that no matter how shitty a show is, someone will remember it fondly at some point. Jeez, what's next, a "BJ snd the Bear is cool" thread?

You don't say! Pretty much sums it up, doesn't it! -
That would have bothered me back when I first started buying Mosaics, but now that I know they aren't going anywhere anyway, I don't mind. For a while there, the Lee Morgan was getting high enough that I was actually tempted to sell. Fortunately, I just couldn't pull the trigger...

Amazing! I thought for sure you guys would have broken the damned thing before I got home!

Bill Gates wants people to pay for e-mail
Jazzmoose replied to Chrome's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Wait a minute, Paul; this really could work! We just need to make a few adjustments... Make Bill Gates pay for any spam anyone receives. I guarantee Microsoft would find a solution fast... -
I own the jazz CDs by not driving period. The tough part is getting the wife to pull over at Tower Records...
