  1. I'm not much on Lovecraft, but I do like Derleth... I was at best lukewarm on Ellison (and don't even think he's the best writer the U.S. ever had with that last name; I'll take Ralph!), but my opinion of him went up when I sold that Ace double for mucho bucks!
  2. I guess this is a real news site, but check out the photo...
  3. Hey, at the very least, you have the one thing with which no home is complete! I'm talking about Herman, of course.
  4. Is that who that was? I had no idea; he just kept babbling on about swapping votes on a rider for TOCJs or something like that...
  5. Wow; all I can think to say after that post is which three and do you have a lot of Arkham House stuff that's just gathering dust...
  6. Don't remember. It really sucked, because it took forever for the locksmith to arrive, and on top of that, it was starting to rain and the top was down...
  7. So much for "Location: not given"...
  8. Well, it lasted longer than "up yer ass with Mobil gas", but no...
  9. Hire a food taster.
  10. Hmm...looks like I have some work to do!
  11. I guess I got into Mosaic at the right time for me, as the sets I've bought duplicate little if any of what I have. I picked up the Lee Morgan when I was in my "gotta have all the Mogie I can get" kick, and hadn't I picked up anything before Sidewinder yet. Then I got the Anita, which had just the period I wanted from her, all of it, and I only had one CD from that period. In fact, I don't think I've ever bought a Mosiac that really duplicated anything I had other than that. As strange as this sounds to my wife, with just 500 or so jazz CDs, I just don't have that much... Now, there are some Mosaics I'll never own. The Blakey for example. What would be the point? I've already got the individual CDs. Same with Tina Brooks. The tough ones are ones like the Byrd/Adams, where I have two of the CDs covered, but not the others. I don't know. We'll see when "last chance" time comes, I guess.
  12. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it at that time, but I'll be here in spirit (after all, I'll be at work! ), and I'll check in later!
  13. Who the heck is that? Looks like "Kamandi: Meteor Magnet"!
  14. Have a good one, Michel, and come around more often, okay?
  15. I was trapped in a convertable with a fifty year old midget with bad breath once, but it was so traumatic, I really don't like to talk about it...
  16. "To recap today's forecast: rain this morning, followed by scattered clouds. Air quality is "fair" today, so watch those motor vehicles unless needed, and there's a 5% chance of extinction of all known life by meteor later today, in which case our five day forecast is a bit of a waste, don't you think? Have a nice one, folks, and we'll see you tomorrow!"
  17. I'm a bit curious about seeing it, but the wife has no interest, so it isn't going to make our list of movies to check out, I'm afraid. We don't catch flicks often enough to get to the ones that only one of us wants to see... Note to Gibson haters: Bite me; Braveheart was a blast!!
  18. I agree, Sal; Alone is a favorite. I only have three discs with her, so I can't claim to be a fanatic, but I love what I've heard.
  19. You mean so far, right? Blue Mitchell as well, but Gerry right before that, and the Atlantic set right before that, and the J.J. set somewhere in there...hey, it wasn't Christmas presents that got me in this current bind! What the hell was I thinking??
  20. Lee Morgan, right off the last chance list, whenever that was. I sent for the brochure when I saw a review of the Anita O'Day box in JazzTimes, but the Lee was about to disappear, so... Anita was second, though!
  21. He's an unusual artist to start with, isn't he? I only have one Ayler disc (My Name is..., purchased from a fellow board member), but I was surprised at how accessible the music is, considering Ayler's reputation. Or maybe you guys have totally fried my brain with all this Quartet Out, Ornette, Roscoe Mitchell, Peter Brotzman, AEC, etc., etc....
  22. Peter, you throw in a lot of conditions, but I can relate. I'd be more likely to buy new even if I found a CD used if I knew someone involved in it, whether from Jim, Randy and Joe's end, or from Chuck's end. So maybe I'm being a bit hypocritical. If so, I guess I'm human...
  23. On one hand, I wouldn't care if someone picked up some bargains from my collection after I died, as long as they were going to a good home. In fact, it would be kind of cool, as long as they weren't buying the Mosaics to hit eBay or something, and really dug the music. On the other hand, even if all they represented to my wife was money, I'd certainly want her to get what she could just for her own security, if I was to go first. Sounds like Vibe's plan is a sound one, but how many of us are going to actually do the work? After all, we're all going to live forever, right?
  24. Shrdlu, please don't tell my wife this; you'll take away one of my excuses!
