  1. So is that turtle belt driven, or direct?
  2. According to Ted Gioia's The History of Jazz, the single reached #25 on the pop charts, by the way.
  3. I have three "set ups". Two are pretty new cheap pieces of shit for playing CDs. The other is an old piece of shit for playing LPs. Believe me, at this level, the brand names and model numbers don't matter one bit...
  4. The "trick" is that Sidewinder was used in a television commercial (Chevrolet? Jeez; we need someone older than me!), hence had a lot more exposure than your normal jazz tune...
  5. I'd never heard of this stuff until last year when I read about it on some jazz bulletin board; the name escapes me at the moment . I thought it was pretty good stuff, so I'll be looking for it again this year. At my approximately a beer a week consumption level, I don't expect my palate to develop too much!
  6. I'm big on e.e. cummings. I enjoy reading poetry, but I'm too impatient. A good poem for me requires tons of time to dig into, and I keep wanting to turn the page. There's a big difference for me in reading a poem silently or out loud. My absolute favorite to read out loud is the portion of The Wasteland with the woman speaking...for some reason I really get off on reading that out loud with my best "Monty Python old woman" voice. Try it; it's great!! It's strange, but I love reading cummings, but not out loud. I love reading Langston Hughes out loud, but not silently.
  7. Okay, I finally got my nerve up enough to try the second CD. Love it! This thing is smokin'! This was what I was expecting when I ordered the set; sure am glad I didn't just give up. I'll have to try the first disc again in six months or so; see if my ears have changed...
  8. I decided to skip it and have a pork chop with rice pilaf and green beans.
  9. Started rereading John Irving's The Hotel New Hampshire; couldn't tell you why, exactly...
  10. Yeah, happy birthday, and I'm glad you finally joined us!
  11. By the way, my initial thought WHICH I WOULD NEVER POST TO ANYONE EXCEPT IN JEST* was "Why doncha ask yo momma? " *This is a GENUINE DISCLAIMER, which protects the poster from any and all hurt feelings, insulted fellow posters, etc. etc. The "Should Jazzmoose be banned thread" will begin approximately thirty seconds after Impossible reads this post. Be there.
  12. ¿que? 1st undergroundagent, chapter 6, verse 4: "Yea, and verily, a Nessa shall come from the east and cast doubt on the foolish enterprise."
  13. Undergroundagent, you know that as far as this brouhaha goes, I'm on your side. But this poll stuff just strikes me as silly. I want you to stay, but that's your decision, not everyone elses. In case there's a misunderstanding here, I want Jazzhound to stay as well.
  14. Wasn't there something like that on Ziggy Stardust too? Going by memory; it's been many years... Shit, I've got to pick up that 70s Bowie stuff again sometime...
  15. Oh, my....I can see the RARE GERMAN MOSAIC!!!! auctions on eBay now...
  16. I was about to vote, but I've been downing coffee all day, and I really have to go...
  17. Your Majesty is like a stream of bat's piss....oh wait; that one's taken. Oh, the pressure!!
  18. By the way, I do wish to add that I hate Tony for leaving me off of the list of people he hates. The bastard!!
  19. Good advice to look at it as ebay feedback, and in keeping with that, here's another positive for undergroundagent. I haven't dealt with him that much, but everything went perfectly. and a gold star thingie!
  20. Oh, yeah! You can't crank it up loud enough for that one!
  21. Yes, it'd be difficult to talk about Ahsaan Oland Irk. Or Ed Odney. Or Enee Osnes. Ight you are!!!!! How embarrassing...I see that I did decide that "d" was overused and began to conserve...
