  1. Personally, I think that anyone on the list other than Unitas, Graham and Montana are simply space fillers. I went with Unitas only because I'm old, but not that old... Mnytime, Csonka is in the Hall of Fame, isn't he?
  2. Actually, tonym mentioned it above. I was hoping, as I just picked this disc up last week!
  3. Well...who wouldn't go along with that? I mean, if my CD collection was threatened...okay; I understand! I'll have to check out more by this guy, though...thanks for the recommendations, guys!
  4. Jim, my man, you have tapped into one of my great pet peeves of life. This pig swill is the ultimate FOOD OF EVIL!! It adds calories to a sandwich, without adding one iota of taste whatsoever!!! American Cheese is to food as Kenny G. is to jazz! American Cheese may be the greatest single evil to force itself into our grocery shelves! American Cheese is without any redeeming factor! Kraft will be first against the wall when the revolution comes!!
  5. Ah, nobody here likes Metheny! (Drool....)
  6. On the other hand, I'll bet everyone else has heard this, and no one recommended it to me. I demand an immediate investigation! I smell a cover-up!
  7. Nothing substantial here; I just finished listening to this disc for the first time, and I just have to recommend it to anyone who hasn't heard it. But then everyone else here probably has. Oh, well; back to the real threads, guys...
  8. I'm old enough to know that ya just gotta go with James Brown. Hell, if he'd stuck around until he was too old to play any more like some of these guys, they'd still be chasing his record, which, remember, was set in the days of ten games a season (assuming my memory is correct, always a shaky plan...). But number two? Hey, knock his trial, his "acting" and anything else, but in my book, O.J. is definitely it. The Bills never had shit other than O.J., and still no one could stop him. Hell, the only reason the L.A.P.D. caught him is he just plain forgot how to run...
  9. Same here; he really pitched in to spread the word about this place, it would be a shame to see him stop posting...
  10. I never thought I'd say this, but Use-3D; time to prepare the "fist of doom"...things are getting ugly around here real fast.
  11. Sounds like a question for Cecil at The Straight Dope to me!
  12. I think I just like boxing because it's the only sport where the commentator can say "you have to hook a hooker" and get away with it..
  13. You've got that right! Before I played, I didn't know it was even possible for someone to bite you with a helmet on. Must have been one of those glamor boys with the wussy helmets...
  14. This is probably going to sound really weird, but I would prefer watching boxing to the NFL. At least with boxing, if there's going to be a cheap shot, you know it's going to be from the guy standing in front of you. (Well, unless Riddick Bowe is in your corner... )
  15. Now this could get interesting!
  16. Good lord! I didn't even notice that! Hah! And Ms. Watson back in high school said I'd become a sleaze merchant!
  17. Praise be to ye, because that sounds wrong. It's a frequently-used allusion in headlines for stories about the Potter phenomenon... in fact, I came across two today after I posted. As long as it's the version sung by Bugs Bunny, I see nothing wrong with it...
  18. I can't help but wonder how long this board will be around...
  19. My "no" vote is just the old libertarian strain emerging again. I can't say anything really good about boxing, although I personally prefer my memories of participating (back in my youth) more than my spectator memories. Boxing itself doesn't bother me, it's the fans that are scary.
  20. As far as the hysteria, I don't either, although I think they're better books than my childhood faves like The Happy Hollisters, The Hardy Boys and Tom Swift. They definitely take advantage of the "I'm different" feelings from childhood. I got hooked a few books ago when I decided to see what all the fuss was about, and now can't help reading each before passing them on to the grandkids.
  21. Jeez...when I saw the term "parallactic orders", I thought this was something in J. Larsen's field...
  22. Damn! I knew someone would ask this eventually. I've read the first four and picked up number five today. (If it redeems me at all, Ghost, I've started rereading the Hammett novels as well...)
  23. Rene Marie. I heard a few tunes by her on KCSM over the past couple of months and was really impressed, so I picked up Vertigo, mainly because it had her Dixie/Strange Fruit performance. I can't get the darned thing out of the CD player; it's just awesome!
