  1. Wow. I've done 7.9 and it's one scary experience; 8.9 must be horrendous.
  2. So what's your ending preference, the movie or the book? The movie. Maybe Raymond Chandler's contributions jazzed it up for me? Plus Cain's Phyllis gains with Barbara Stanwyck's portrayal IMO; I didn't find Walter's motivation in the novel quite as credible as it is in the movie. I liked the book, but I'd rank the film as even better. Actually, I felt his motivation in the novel more satisfying than in the book, but as for the ending, I prefer the movie, and while both endings would have worked in the book, I can't see the book ending working on film.

  4. Personally, I would make it my policy to contact my bank and have the charges reversed, if possible.
  5. Nah. I'm the type that thinks that's too much work.
  6. Well, of course you'd say that; you're the type that would...

  11. Sadly, I saw exactly one. And didn't like it. If they start nominating things like Transformer and Twilight movies, I'll be able to see more, but then I'd probably just jump off a bridge. It's tough out here in the boonies.
  12. I'm not sure; I haven't in decades. I just look at the list the next day. I can't imagine actually watching the presentation.
  13. I don't even know what Randy Newman worked on, but heck yeah, but I figure he's still owed more recognition for what he did in the seventies, so sounds good to me!
  14. Random hockey games on Hulu.
  15. The only thing that kept the music industry big enough for us to have this discussion was suckers like me converting to CDs from LPs. Stupidly, I'll admit now. The music industry has been dying for decades. Unfortunately for the industry, the latest format shift doesn't necessarily include them. As for the quality, I'll confess I wasn't listening to jazz that much at the time CDs came out; I was just getting started. But there were some seriously shit releases on CD at the beginning. The one that stands out in my memory was Blonde on Blonde which they cut to fit both LPs on one CD.
  16. I don't know if I'll ever try Blu-Ray; DVD may have been my last format. With the convenience of Netflix, I just don't see the point of owning (and storing) everything I want to watch. I think I'm cured!
  17. Rest assured, I never read anything you post. Okay then, we're good to...wait a minute...
  18. I would, as long as everyone promises not to read it.

  20. My post was serious. Yeah, but we question your credibility. OK, who are you and what have you done with Jazzmoose?? I'm sick and tired of being treated like a second class citizen just because I'm a pod person!
  21. I always think back to the short-short story I wrote in the eleventh grade about smuggling a shotgun into school and blowing away some of the school assholes. It got me an "A" in '74; I suppose now it would get me five to ten...
