  1. The only thing that kept the music industry big enough for us to have this discussion was suckers like me converting to CDs from LPs. Stupidly, I'll admit now. The music industry has been dying for decades. Unfortunately for the industry, the latest format shift doesn't necessarily include them. As for the quality, I'll confess I wasn't listening to jazz that much at the time CDs came out; I was just getting started. But there were some seriously shit releases on CD at the beginning. The one that stands out in my memory was Blonde on Blonde which they cut to fit both LPs on one CD.
  2. I don't know if I'll ever try Blu-Ray; DVD may have been my last format. With the convenience of Netflix, I just don't see the point of owning (and storing) everything I want to watch. I think I'm cured!
  3. Rest assured, I never read anything you post. Okay then, we're good to...wait a minute...
  4. I would, as long as everyone promises not to read it.
  5. Chester Nimitz Fester Bestertester Lester Flatt
  6. My post was serious. Yeah, but we question your credibility. OK, who are you and what have you done with Jazzmoose?? I'm sick and tired of being treated like a second class citizen just because I'm a pod person!
  7. I always think back to the short-short story I wrote in the eleventh grade about smuggling a shotgun into school and blowing away some of the school assholes. It got me an "A" in '74; I suppose now it would get me five to ten...

  9. Welcome to the ranks of the no longer hip; we've been waiting for you!

  11. Not to derail the thread with a serious answer, but I often read polls that I would give a 'no opinion' response. Sometimes it's because I don't think I know it all like I did when I was younger, but just as often it's because the wording of the poll is so simplistic or moronic that there is no way to choose from the listed options.
  12. You actually go out and pick up movies?
  13. Ack! I want my Gundam models back!! Astro Dino Scooby-Doo
  14. I'd rather watch hamsters running on a wheel. Mind you, I'm not knocking cycling as a participation thing; that would be silly since I'm on my bike any day there's no snow on the ground or heavy rain. I just can't stand watching it any longer than I'd watch bowling.
  15. It will be here some day, thanks to the never ending efforts of our great porn industry!
  16. Hang on; let me think...
  17. No intention to stir up stuff, but hopefully he, and his so-called sport, will now fade away.
  18. Netflix finally has the second and third seasons of That Mitchell and Webb Look, so I've been enjoying Sir Digby Chicken Caesar and the gang...
  19. Harry Cox Susan Underhill Ralph Spoilsport
  20. Sorry; faulty memory I guess. I was never a big Allen fan; the only two I ever saw more than once were Sleeper and Zelig. Sleeper was a lot of fun; Zelig was just awesome. I like his stand-up more than his movies.
  21. I agree, but then that's the way I feel about any actor who operates this way. Heck, even Jerry Lewis was funny for a picture or two.. As a director, though, I think it's true that the 'creepy pedophile' tag did hurt him greatly. After that episode, I just didn't seem to notice people discussing his movies as much as before. People can overlook a lot for art; apparently marrying your step-daughter isn't one of them.
  22. All these years I thought I'd seen him in concert, but a quick check of the internet shows that he left Thin Lizzy a few weeks before I saw them in Chicago in '79.
  23. This will absolutely ruin (insert the participant of your choice here), if you ask me.
