  1. Terrific disc. Looks like the DP 34 is sold out already.
  2. Those four countries are ones that didn’t get on top of things promptly and they paid and are paying the price. The US and Spain are examples of countries with fractured political systems that impeded their responses.
  3. It’s good to see that it’s still remembered in Europe. It may resonate more in Europe at the present time than the US because Europe was impacted more than the US.
  4. Jersey City = the Gates of Hell. Abandon all hope, ye packages who enter here.
  5. I think the Out for Delivery must have been an error because it takes about half an hour to drive from Chatham to Chester. There is no way it could have been received in Chatham at 820 and then be out for delivery in Chester at 831. I have alerted the seller.
  6. The path of this package is unbelievable. A total fiasco. This package earns the award for “the USPS Sucks.” Never will I use media mail again, if I can help it. By the way, Chatham is only a half hour from Chester, where I live. 7. Today is a blessed day for on May 8, 1945 WW II ended in Europe. For some of you that’s just a date in history but probably for some born in the aftermath of WWII it may have some significance. I was born in 1950 and my father had been stationed in London as a civilian worker with SHAEF (Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force) and my mother worked for OPA (Office of Price Administration) so WWII always seemed more than a date, not to mention some distant members of our family in Poland never emerged from the concentration camps. Here’s a look at how the World celebrated VE Day. How VE Day Echoed Around the World Perhaps one day soon we will celebrate the end of the Coronavirus.
  8. The way this country is handling it is, to use the question in the poll, a shit show. For comparison, see Germany and Canada.
  9. It depends. I purchased some cds from CD Japan and they shipped it DHL; I don’t think they’re using regular mail nowadays. On the other hand, I purchased a few weeks ago on eBay a couple of cds from a seller who is very reliable. He warned me that it could take a long time for the post office to ship them and he wasn’t kidding; they haven’t left Japan yet.
  10. Just received mine yesterday. Looking forward to listening later.
  11. The people at Hoffman aren’t very happy with the choices. They hate the concert and they think the vinyl looks cheesy. Sounds like some Deadheads are going to pass on them. For me it’s Workingman’s Dead.
  12. I neglected to mention that the night before the game there was a downpour; the game has been labeled the Mud Bowl. It slowed the Jets because they had an excellent running game and Shula purposely didn’t put the tarp on the field. It was far different from what groundskeepers do. See https://www.newsday.com/long-island/nassau/ex-jets-recall-mud-bowl-one-that-slipped-away-1.1719636 As a result of this game, the NFL did change the rules. Either the rule was changed to require the home team to protect the field from weather conditions or the league took it over to make sure the visiting team wasn’t at a disadvantage.
  13. Not a fan of his, especially for that trick of not covering the field the night before the 1983 AFC Championship game against the Jets do they could slow the Jets running game down. Adios Donny.
  14. When I purchase something nowadays, I request first class or priority. It’s a little more but worth the aggravation.
  15. It’s hard to get physical if there is a physical distance between you and your lover
  16. I’m still waiting on those two packages I had posted about; one was mailed on April 9, the other a day later.
  17. First class is fine. It’s media that can be iffy.
  18. I watched it when it first came out and my recollection of the first episode was that it lacked enough Vietnamese history. Although the series made an attempt to use Vietnamese participants, it was an American-centric series as are most books you read about Nam. From the US perspective, the books I’d recommend are Tim O’Brien’s books. From the Vietnamese side, I’d recommend Viet Thanh Nguyen’s The Sympathizer; his account of Apocalypse Now is damning. The Times ran a great series three years ago, Vietnam 67. It’s worth the time. It ran for about 15 months. I was sorry when it ended. I was in high school and then college in the late 60s (did my share of demonstrations and was gassed once or twice) and the one good thing about the series — or bad thing, depending on your perspective — is that it brings you back; I felt I was reliving it again. Wasn’t a great feeling. Can only imagine how the combatants felt.
  19. It’s going to be in my next order.
