  1. It’s almost impossible not to get political because we have competing desires between trying to keep this disease at bay vs opening up the economy. You can’t do both. Cutting back on the former in favor of the latter is just going to lead to the former coming back in full force and worse economic consequences. Take one step forward and two steps back. sometimes you have to learn the hard way. The economy opening up is being pushed due to political considerations, nothing else.
  2. Sounds like Chuck’s advice when Concord bought Fantasy.
  3. For those in need of a baseball fix, ESPN is going to start to show Korean Baseball League games six days a week starting tomorrow at 1am Eastern.
  4. Expect to see a ramping up in age discrimination suits.
  5. A prior post in 2018 said that Dr. Sunenblick’s son was trying to finish up projects his father started. Whether those come to fruition is another question.
  6. Only in America. If I’m in a public place, I wear a mask and gloves as well, if I may touch something. However, if I’m out walking or in a place where I may not encounter people I don’t wear one but have one at the ready b
  7. While this movie is great and I’ve seen it umpteen times so is Failsafe. It’s very good and I’d recommend that to anyone. The novel by Burdick and Wheeler was also very good.
  8. Can’t remember if I listened to this when I was younger but purchased this last year from Sundazed. Just amazing.
  9. Since I believe the gestation period is around 14 days, these deaths occurred while most of the nation was sheltering in place. With restrictions being eased, cases may increase. After holding steady for a few days in the 50-80 range, new cases in our county yesterday increased to slightly over 100. Better than it was previously but not optimal.

  11. I’m sorry to hear that. Hopefully, it’s not serious again as he’s been posting regularly on FB, most recently as of this past Friday.
  12. We all have our complaints about the Post Office but as this article indicates, it’s an essential institution. We Can’t Afford to Lose the Postal Service
  13. Did you ever see when Ali and Frazier wrested on the floor when Cosell was interviewing them. Classic.
  14. Did you try emailing them?
  15. When I check it says we don’t have enough info, etc. so I’m presuming we don’t. You don’t need to have filed your 2019 return, which is not due anyway, as long as you have filed your 2018 one. Camden, Burlington and Gloucester are not that bad in the total number of cases compared to other parts of NJ. In Morris County, we have 5,400 total cases whereas Camden has 3,800, Burlington 2,900 and Gloucester 1,300.
  16. Could it be you don’t qualify? We were out today — had to go to Lowe’s — and it seems with the confluence of warm weather and new cases declining a bit, people don’t seem as observant as they were previously. The roads were crowded, with a return to some sloppy driving, which will inevitably lead to a return of accidents. All of this will probably lead to a spike in cases.
  17. However, Montgomery County is less dense than Philadelphia so you would expect there to be a difference.
  18. Picked this up from Laurie Pepper via Bandcamp. I opted for a physical cd rather than digital.
  19. I’ve been tracking my county — Morris County, NJ — and for the last few days we’ve had around 70-85 new cases per day, which is an improvement from the 120-180 daily cases we’d been having. Yes. I haven’t been following them too closely but they quickly become blatantly political. To a certain extent it’s hard to avoid.
  20. I’m actually surprised we’ve only had three of these threads. Over at Hoffmann, I think they’ve had about 15.
  21. He was also pretty close with Roy Eldridge.
  22. I received an email from Jazz Messengers which appears to indicate this is available now, at least in Europe. It’s not supposed to come out in the US until August. I’m used to certain books originally published in Britain being available months before it's published in the US but not what is seemingly the reverse.
