  1. Well, in all fairness the White Album does sound different, a bit fresher.
  2. Same here. That was such a great box. I just don’t see how it could be improved upon. I purchased the White Album remix and it’s fine and all that but didn’t/don’t see the need to buy Abbey Road.
  3. Sounds like an interesting project. I’ve bookmarked your site.
  4. You’re right. I just wasn’t sure what you meant. Anyway they can find to repackage the same asset in different ways they will do. With that being said, I thought the Mono Box was a great release. Naively, I thought that would be it!
  5. I had to read On Walden Pond in Literature class in my freshman year (still have my text book) and I’m afraid it soured me on Thoreau, to my detriment no doubt.
  6. How do you define the music market? The record companies or buyers. If the latter, I find it hard to believe that these songs haven’t been heard before.
  7. Yes, always have. Currently, I'm using a Ted Baker watch my wife gave me a year ago. I also have a Citizens Watch and a Movado my father used to wear, but it doesn't keep good time. I also have (or had, need to check) a Chairman Mao watch where his hand waves back and forth. I think it was made for a Hong Kong department store but you always have to constantly wind it. Made for a great conversation piece, though.
  8. The managers don’t make the big decisions anymore.
  9. Nonetheless, they have suggestions you can ponder.
  10. I asked this question on the Hoffman Forum. Here’s the thread, https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/rice-paper-inner-sleeves.872396/ Take a look at this thread about cleaning records,
  11. Article in The NY Times today: The Genius Behind the Grateful Dead Well worth a read. The comments are also worth sampling.
  12. The Beatles today announced the following box set: “LIMITED EDITION COLLECTION OF NEWLY REMASTERED SEVEN-INCH VINYL SINGLES We are proud to announce the release of this collectible box set presenting 46 tracks on 23 7-inch vinyl singles, in faithfully reproduced international picture sleeves, accompanied by a 40-page booklet with photos, ephemera, and detailed essays by Beatles historian Kevin Howlett. These singles, plus an exclusive new double A-side single for the mid-1990s-issued tracks “Free As A Bird” and “Real Love,” are newly remastered from their original multi-track master tapes and cut for vinyl at Abbey Road Studios for a new limited edition boxed set.” The cover art used is how they were issued in various countries. Price is $230. Amazon has it for $200 See Beatles Singles Collection I can’t see myself buying this. I have the mono box from a few years ago and that box was more than satisfactory.
  13. I don’t like what the Astros are doing; their aces will only have three days of rest. They’ve won two. Why not have these guys fully rested for 6 and 7? Secondly, if this goes 7, do you really want a bullpen game in game 7? You’re assuming Boone is making these decisions. It might be the GM.
  14. Brujo by New Riders of the Purple Sage
  15. I seem to remember when I was a teenager and living in Barcelona that there were listening rooms where you could sample a cut or two from records.
  16. When we were younger (back in the 60s or 70s), that's what we'd do. I remember you could listen to a cut or two but for the most part you'd buy an album on reputation (e.g., Stones, Beatles, etc.), word of mouth or on a whim. I prefer those days.
  17. A very long time! Chalk up another expansion time that has finally made the WS. I think Seattle is the only one left.
  18. Last time was in the 30s. Johnson retired after the 1927 season.
  19. Started to listen to this today, The Live Adventures of Mike Bloomfield and Al Kooper.
  20. I don’t know that applies in my case because I’m always trying to pick out CDs I haven’t listened to in many years.
