  1. Something just wrong about that.
  2. Yes, it is fantastic Gheorghe. Normally, I don’t listen to a recording twice in one listen but I did that yesterday. I will pull out volumes 1 and 2 today. It's hard to single out one performer as better than the others. Sometimes I wanted to say Kenny Dorham, other times Kenny Burrell and other times Bobby Timmons. It’s funny and I guess it’s because of a club atmosphere but the group seems to just get polite applause.
  3. A great set. Rhino issues some wonderful music.
  4. When I have to have a MRI I don’t bother with music as you can’t hear anything with all that banging.
  5. Another winning program by GOM.
  6. Yes, but should Trammel be there. I guess that question’s been answered, though.
  7. Jim sent this via Kickstarter.
  8. I don’t how many they pick but my top 5 would be Marvin Miller, Dave Parker, Tommy John, Mattingly and Dwight Evans. The Golden Era Committee doesn’t meet until 2021, which doesn’t make sense to me but perhaps there’s a good reason.
  9. JazzTimes republished this article last week on the occasion of Clifford Brown’s birthday (October 30). Well worth reading. Clifford Brown: A Short Life Well-Lived
  10. Sad but true. I wonder if he said to you “Ok Boomer.” That seems to be in vogue these days.
  11. It was tested this year in done independent leagues and I think is being used in the Fall League. I can see it showing up in MLB in two or three years.
  12. Unfortunately. Sad but true. Once in awhile they have some good articles that I find interesting (such as the article on Tom Seaver) but that’s not enough to justify continuing the subscription.
  13. The problem for SI is that the market for this type of magazine isn’t there anymore. With the glut of information we have, it’s lost its place today. When I was a teenager — and especially when I lived overseas — it had information and articles I couldn’t get anywhere else. However, in the internet age, it has lost its unique place. I dropped my subscription years ago and re-upped a few years ago for my son. However, he doesn’t read it and I barely glance it. When it runs out this year, I won’t renew.
  14. I find that if I use a different type of device than I’m using I will be signed out of the first device. Why? No idea.
  15. Do you feel the same about Sonny Stitt or Leo Parker?
  16. My favorite movie of all time.
  17. When I think of Baritone Madness I think of Nick Brignola’s recording on the Bee Hive label.
  18. They also have problems with counterfeit books, as this article from the New York Times -- which received a lot of attention -- notes: Paging Big Brother: In Amazon’s Bookstore, Orwell Gets a Rewrite "In George Orwell’s '1984,' the classics of literature are rewritten into Newspeak, a revision and reduction of the language meant to make bad thoughts literally unthinkable. 'It’s a beautiful thing, the destruction of words,' one true believer exults. Now some of the writer’s own words are getting reworked in Amazon’s vast virtual bookstore, a place where copyright laws hold remarkably little sway. Orwell’s reputation may be secure, but his sentences are not."
  19. I will have to see if I still have it!
  20. I wasn’t aware of that. Lately, I’ve purchased a few cds from them. They deliver relatively quickly.
