The ones I thought best (or that I liked best) were the performances by Alexandra Baird and Emanuele Maia.

What rock music are you listening to? Non-Jazz, Non-Classical.

Even though he’s a god in my state, I was never a fan. -
Hank Mobley interview 1970

He may have said nice things about Miles because he needed to work and didn’t want to say anything that could get back to Miles and cost him a job. Burning bridges. Just a theory. -
Courtesy of Jazz Wax, here is some Hank in vocalese. Some of the performances are good, others just ok. Hank in Vocalese

I once accompanied my son to one of their concerts, when he was in his metal phase. My ears still hurt I also saw Lamb of God with him. That wasn’t bad, musically. -

Paco de Lucia is in a class by himself. -
Ahh, now I recognize it.

The Armstrong looks like it must be a nice one.

This one is new to me but there must be many Spanish writers that we are not aware of. Will add this to the list. A very long list as well. Followup Note: I see this is about Capa and Gerda Taro. Their relationship was part of Amanda Vaill’s Hotel Florida, which wasn’t bad. Well worth picking up.

Keith Hernández tweeted the following today: I am so saddened to hear of Bill Buckner’s death at who had been suffering from dementia. 69 years is too young. I know from my mother who also suffered from dementia, that he is in a better place. Bill and I battled to the last day of the 1980 season for the batting title.

He had something called Lewy Body Dementia. See https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/lewy-body-dementia/symptoms-causes/syc-20352025 RIP. Only 69. What a shame.

This is an amazing look at what it took to put the show together, something most of us don't think about, unless you're in the business.

How did you like it?

That happened to me with the 88 Mets, who, in my opinion, were the best team that year. Unfortunately, they lost to the Dodgers in 7, a loss that still rankles. I wanted no part of the World Series.

I understand why you won’t be watching although it’s probably more unhappiness that your team was so close. I don’t blame you as I’ve been in that position. Drake reminds me of a crazy fan we used to call Red from my college days. GW used to play at Ft Myers back in the early 70s and the fans were very close to the action. Red would be inches from the ref’s or players’ ears, screaming at them. To their credit, they never acknowledged him. You could never get away with that today.

Sounds like he was quite a character. RIP.

I can’t see the Warriors (with or without Durant) losing to the Raptors. I thought that the Bucks might be able to beat them and am surprised they’re not going to the Finals.

I saw it in 3D. Amazing. I thought Peter Jackson’s talk after the movie was over was almost as interesting as the movie. Btw, it’s now available on Amazon and other platforms.

Suggest Vintage Exotic Novels or Travelogues

From what I gathered, his Time of Gifts, Between the Woods and the Water, and The Broken Road -which detail his travels across Europe - are quite different than the one you read and are considered the ones to read. -

I have never read Patrick Leigh Fermor's books but am thinking of doing so. They're supposed to be very good. See https://www.nyrb.com/collections/patrick-leigh-fermor -
I've also never read any of the Games of Thrones books so I'm going to give one a try.
