Sometimes we want to ascribe better qualities to those we admire for their professional gifts, be they musicians, actors or sports stars.

My perception is that the sax guys are very competitive and that cutting contests can sometimes escalate.

Peter seems to imply that there is more than 1 disc. Is there? The RVG edition is only one disc.

Is this a different edition?

Marzz, that was the only one I’ve read so far. I was in a used book shop recently and picked it up and found it moving. That’s the only I’ve read so far. I take it you enjoyed House of Mirth?

I’m not a big fan of theirs. I don’t care for their translation of The Death of Ivan Illyich and Other Stories. I actually may seek out another translation. Their translation seems lifeless. Did you ever read Ethan Frome. That is amazing.

I emailed Paul and he replied that he won’t be returning. He said he missed the social interaction at first but now he said he actually feels freer. I hope he changes his mind but I doubt it. I suggest we move on. There have been many members who have come and gone over the years and let’s hope we can attract new ones. I urge that this thread be closed to avoid the bloodletting we had a couple of days ago.

Jim, wasn’t there a surplus last year? I assume it was applied to this year’s bill. Regarding updating the forum software, wouldn’t it make sense to hire someone to do this, depending on the cost. Shouldn’t the forum software developers be doing that though?
